"moulding" Is that a Canadian thing? I never heard it called that. I always heard "molding". Not trying to be ignorant or confrontational, just trying to learn.

Well in reguards to the r/t program. The bucks were at rom2 for months. Many many test run to paint the things. Why would they bother waisting all the man power if they did not plan on doing something with them. Never the less. In re:too working with the Browns, the company is for sale for a reason. And today its official, 60 day notice to the employees at Rom2. As of July 13,2008 all employees are "Terminated".

No idea what bashing you are talking about. We got 2 notices today. And we had a VIP from flexingate today at 2pm. Posting up at 4pm. JCI will more than likely pick up Byesville and Elwood. As I also posted RUMOR. But with good info.

Flex n'gate was either going to buy us or take our contracts. Neither came to be...just rumours...but good luck with whatever happens...

we were told that there was two companies interested in us, Magna and Flexigate, they have bids in and we should know within two weeks if either purchase us
our plant manager said that if magna buys us, their intention is to shut us down and take our work, if flexigate buys us , they will keep our plant open
magna has visited us like 4 or 5 times , each time taking pictures and measuring, flexigate has been their one time to my knowledge
the news today crushed our plant, like i am sure it did to other who have lost their job, i feel for those and all the families, especially with the economy and the way things are today....
to the romulus worker, has any severance package been mentioned to you? or since they gave us 60 days notice, does that mean we are not entitled to it? will we get the same as leamington? any ideas?

INTERNAL MEMORANDUM
To: All Plastech Employees Date: May 14, 2008 Subject:Plastech Facility Closings
On February 1, 2008, Plastech Engineered Products, Inc.(“Plastech” or the “Company”) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division (the “Bankruptcy Court”). Unfortunately, Plastech now plans to exit the exterior business due to either:(i) customer termination of Plastech contracts and/or resourcing of the exterior business to third parties; or (ii) a potential sale of Plastech’s exterior business. As a result, Plastech is tentatively closing the following facilities on July 13, 2008:
Elwood, Indiana Moraine, Ohio Romulus II Byesville, Ohio
The closing of the aforementioned facilities will be permanent and will effectively terminate positions for all employees in all job titles. This memorandum is being provided to keep all Plastech employees aware of any relevant changes to the Company and its structure. Employees at any of these facilities should address any and all concerns to their respective plant managers.
The employees at Plastech have always been dedicated to their jobs and have been our most valuable asset. We know this is a very difficult time, we encourage each of you to communicate with your management team regarding questions and concerns, and we will make every effort to provide answers. We appreciate your patience and continued efforts during this challenging period.

By law the have to give advance notice of the closing. That is why the letters came out. I re: to Magna buying they just finished up with their Bankruptcy a little more than a year ago. They are Canadian owned company and that is the main reason Chrysler is doing business with them. Our second letter from management states "..will beclosing due to sale of ....". Also the are breaking up the company into 2 divisions, Interior and Exterior. And that is how the sale will go down.

They have not come out with any info yet on severance pay. No idea what the are bringing to the unions table. But the union said if you have time that the company will give you the days of and might not be offering checks. So use it or lose it. There is a scheduled date at the courts in Detroit and they might bring up something then. Look the big 3 need their tooling still and need to know what is up. Good luck to us all is right.

To the folks who just found out their plant is closing, I'm sorry to hear that and I wish you the very best in life. So far for us no news other than JCI was looking to buy us and start a new company. Also heard that Magna was supposed to come in and take a look around. Managment is telling our Union Reps., that there is to be a big announcement on Friday. I wonder what that will be, good or bad hard to tell. I figure in June we will know something, sounds like possibly sooner. People where I work are getting nervous due to the real quiteness that has happend as of late. We have had people come in and take a look around, write numbers down off of various things, take pictures apparently, etc....,. Usually means one thing, sometimes another like for updates for insurance purposes. Again worry and speculating is not going to help, most of us go in and take it day by day. Just enjoy the time you have with those you work with in the plants that are closing. Time for hate is not now, but understandable. Let yourself be able to go thru the steps of the grieving process of the job loss. If possible take a week or two after you walk out of those doors for the last time just to clear your mind and soul.
