Interview Follow Up

I had what I thought was a great interview 3 weeks ago for a position that I know I would be great at and a company that is a mover in the industry. The last question I asked the hiring manager is based on our conversations, do you see any reason that I wouldn't move on to the next steps in the hiring process? He without hesitation said yes.
When HR came into the room to let me know what the next steps where, I was informed that they would be contacting me in the next week to schedule the next interview. When I emailed the following week to find out when I could schedule the interview, I was informed that they are continuing the initial screening and would update me when they move to the next step. That was last week and I still have not heard anything.
Now to say that I'm VERY motivated towards this position would be an understatement. I want to show that I should be considered a serios candidate and don't easily give up.
My question is what is the best way to show my interest with this position without coming across as desperate and annoying?
