Stubborn HR Staff

Manitowoc, WI

#1 Jul 15, 2014
So I was hired in the summer of 2010 as part-time for a business after my
junior year in high school. When I went back to school, I was allowed to
continue working whenever I could which was great. Anyway, so at the end
of summer 2011 as I was going to enter my freshman year of college, I let
the business know I had the same intention of working like I did in
high school, whenever I could. Two weeks after college starting was the
first day back at work. So I continued this process throughout my freshman
and sophomore year, continuing to work along with school Then I get an email
and I see that my work anniversary is incorrect, by a lot. After some digging,
I discovered that I was terminated and then re-hired, wiping my time of
service slate. After months of emailing, I finally got a meeting with HR to
talk about the mistake. Unfortunately, they refused to correct the issue and
give me back the 1.5 years I worked. The difficult part is management and
staff had changed between 2011 and 2014 so they won't accept the responsibility
which is ticking me off because after all the time and effort, I deserve better,
and I expect more of them. So, I am wondering what my options are both tactically
and legally. This is ridiculous and has gone on long enough, and I'm sure I'm not
the only one that has gone through this; so perhaps it can benefit others too.
