I'm not a HR professional but wanted to get an opinion on an interview and ongoing situation since. I tested and interviewed for a position with a large company last October. Following the interview, I was told the decision process would take a couple weeks. I contacted them a couple weeks later and got no response by phone or e-mail. Weeks turned into 3 months until I finally spoke with someone and was informed I was "recommended for hire" but the position I interviewed for had been "put on hold" for another 2-3 months. Once again, after 2-3 months I tried contacting the representative I had been dealing with and got no response. Finally, I was told no movement had been made as of yet but to feel free to call back and see how the process is going. 2 months ago I e-mailed again and got a call from a different HR rep who had taken over the previous reps position. He basically informed me the same thing. I have e-mailed back twice in the last 3 weeks with no response again.

2 questions. 1st is it too much for me to keep sending e-mails wanting to get a resolution to a position I interviewed for nearly a year ago, was recommended for hire, and now put on hold? How much is too much and would it look bad on me?
2nd is this typical with a big company to post a position, test, have interviews, and then pull it back or totally take it off the table?
