You can buy a home for $200,$500, or $10,000 in Detroit. Some look pretty good. Who are your new neighbors and how long will it last? If you bring in a new water heater and go out to lunch, it could be gone by your return. Better put those bars back on the windows or wake up to someone standing over you. The bars won't prevent it entirely. The bars only give you some extra warning time to get your piece and take action. Put that cell phone down. Nobody is coming to help. You are on your own. Look out your window. Saggers are walking and biking by all the time. Some are scouting for your treasure, marking your schedule and putting you on their schedule.
I have been there, done that. It's no life really.
