But where is it written that Marines have to be unthinking right-wing robots? The Democratic Party, as well as the non-partisan peace movement, are full of veterans. What's sickening is the way the Right uses soldiers and veterans to promote their point of view, but then turns on them and swift-boats them if they express any independent opinions. I'm glad there are vets who don't let themselves get used for the purpose of throwing more lives into pointless death traps and quagmires. Support the troops! Stop presidents from sending them off on fool's errands that the military was never meant for. And for the young people who do go, we should damn well provide decent benefits for them when they get back.

Oh it IS a contradiction. Note the defeatist line HE wrote. and of course no dem hacks have "used" any vets...yeah right. you discuss it as if it is right wingers who "use" them. it is on display for all to see on national tv, all the lefty's pals, the military nay sayers they pump up to tell their whiny tails, like it has anything to do with the reality of the war. add to that john "i served in viet nam" kerry, who displayed the most disgusting act of cowardice and near treason when he came whining home to make his "famous" blither on national tv. what a source of pride he is, not. your deluded view of the right is unimpressive. by "non-partisan peace movement" you of course mean the likes of code pink and hanoi jane right? people who think like you do may as well line up with the enemies of our country, you do nothing to suggest otherwise, and don't blather about truth to power and such non-sense. i have had it with ninnies like you who have nothing good to say about our country, and nothing bad to say about our enemies. my disgust has over powered my desire to say any more.

all the people that went and hid from the draft on college campus's 40 years ago and on top of it protested the war caused the deaths of millions of people in southeast asia and the middle east and suffer from massive guilt to this day and can't ever admit they where totally wrong to be second guessing the adults who where leading the country.
Now we have all these people who are around 55 to 65 years old and head of news rooms, school systems and everything else still in total denial they where wrong 40 years ago and still preaching the same old thing and suckering enough younger people they are right.
They where wrong 40 years ago and are still wrong today. They just cleaned up their hippie image and traded in the hippie VW bus for a subaru and are still fighting the same old war against the evil corporate machine that provides them with the easy life they enjoy.
They cry and whine to no end, but sure don't pack up and go to another country that more suits their politicals veiws because they really don't want to give up what America Inc provides them.

If you mean ninnies who are against the continuation of this stupid war, you're talking about 3/4 of the American population now. Don't you get it? We're not in danger of losing this war; it was lost in April 2003. Just like in Vietnam, you can't win with military force when the population is against you. Look at the "surge" - we've suppressed the violence a little, but the puppet government is no closer than it ever was to taking over. And without that, there's no point to wasting more American lives and money. And that's another thing you're hiding from yourself - we can't afford this war, it's costing a trillion $ that we don't have - it's all borrowed. You want to pay for that with your taxes? I'm trying to imagine how you see things - If we just pump in enough troops and ordnance, we can win a war in a country where people are determined to blow up each other and us. How many years did you say you want this to go on? By the way, your clownish statement that war opponents hate our country and love our enemies is nothing but overheated right-wing rhetoric. The world is not divided into patriots who agree with you on one hand, and traitors and subversives on the other. I consider myself a more effective patriot than any reactionary extremist. And John Kerry was far more manly for going to war than George Bush, the college cheerleader, who shirked his duty. Bush sends young people into situations he never had the guts to go into. Again, Support the Troops! End this pointless conflict and prevent others like it! Respect the military by using it for its intended mission of defending this country, rather than conquering oil wells.

Respect the military by using it for its intended mission of defending this country, rather than conquering oil wells. We have vastly different beliefs as to what is best for our country. We will have to agree to disagree I suppose. I will continue to support those things which I believe are best for us, and work against those which I believe will harm us. I am sure you will do the same. When you espouse that 3/4 of our country is "against the war", you are following in the footsteps of blind, propaganda followers. A common ploy of all of the totalitarian regimes of the past. The debate is over, not.

The fact is I AM a patriot! And have put my life on the line for this country. But a patriot stands up for what is best for his country. You can believe anything you want, but if you dare suggest I've not fought for America. Then you should be man enough to tell me to my face. I'm just a candy-ass liberal after all!
Ah well, I've offered to chat face to face with the hateful and self-righteous "VT Observer" before, and he never dares answer.
But, the offer stands. I'm happy to have a meet and greet here in Brattleboro!

Yeah, I'm just baiting them back. I love it when repug's act all tough and studly, and call anybody more liberal then themselves "wimps" -- yet when they get called on the carpet they uniformly tuck their tails and demonstrate what candy-a**es they really are!
I never expect an answer, but get wonderful chuckles at the image of them pulling the covers over their heads, and cuddling up to their little Hitler dolls in fright!

I really doubt you were a Marine. If you were in the Marines you were probably the one in the barricks the rest of the men couldn't stand. Save your BS for the naked hoppers in the parking lot, I'm sure the naked little boys are very impressed with your tough guy act.

Doubt all you want, happy to hand you back your doubt (and your butt) on a tin plated platter. Come to Brattleboro and show me how tough YOU are!
Why is a whiner like you from CT spending all this time here on a VT forum anyways?

That was Bonehead writing - same illiterate writing, same Connecticut location, same obsession with the naked men in the parking lot. Don't mind him, he just hates everybody. It's a shame that men and women in uniform, like our local Liberal Ex-Marine, put their lives on the line to defend the right of psychopaths like Bonehead to spew their hateful drivel. That's democracy, I guess.

Angry little boy, sad. Ok - lets descend to your conversational level just for fun, and recommend that a good way for you to work off some of that stress would be to get out a photo of Limbaugh and some lube ... drop a load. Then load up of the Grand Theft Auto games and run over and shoot some of the ladies and kids in the game, and then "ahhhhhh" - you'll feel much better!
(Don't forget to take your meds though!)

Vietnam was fought by the mostly poor people while the rich kids hid on college campuses and I'm not just saying filthy rich, the average family with the financial means to do so bought their kid a ticket to college if they could afford to.
