Looks more like a bad decision to start with seeing how it is only 20 min. from the tax free Keene store. I wouldn't pat myself on the back too much as the final story is yet to be told.

What the Reformer story misses is the fact that Home Depot was a different kind of store from Brown & Roberts and Fireside True Value - it sold building materials. Competition was only in the tools department, and I stuck with Brown & Roberts for most tools while going to HD for materials.
I doubt that the activists had anything to do with HD closing, since they probably aren't big building materials customers. Now I wonder how they're going to celebrate the empty store front (again). "Home Towns Not Home Depot" was one of the more stupid slogans I've seen on bumpers, and I've been opposed to Cumberland Farms, the Fulflex field conversion, and other sprawl. |

Ahh, work there do you Joe? Maybe a job at Mao-Mart will be next in your grand career?

I love these stories about Brattleboro. Hoping to move there when I retire. I live in NJ and am so tired of all these box stores where you can't find anyone to help you. Every mall is the same and even the downtowns now have chain stores. Saving a few pennies isn't worth the cost. Hang in there Brattleboro.

poverty stricken libtards too poor & lazy to support a HD, would sooner live in run down dumps and whine the government should provide nice affordable housing to their slug butts than get off their lazy butts and do some work on their places.

I'd be ashamed to pat myself on the back at this time. Let me see lost tax revenue for Bratt, a vacant store front, people adding to the already high unemployment figures. Sure lets drive to Keene HD where we don't have to pay any taxes. But we'll drive (in my case) about 46 miles (one way) to get needed interior and exterior building supplies. Those of you whose have opposed HD, I'd venture to say spent a few dollars in the store also, your just to chicken to stand up and be counted in the thousands that shopped there. So what is going to happen now to the space? I have a great idea tear it down and put in added packing space. YOU ALL NEED TO BE ASHAMED! But always remember "What does around comes around". One day you will get back what you gave NOTHING!

I hope you are handy because finding anyone to hire to do things for you in this libtard state is near impossible. Bubba living off old family money pretends to be in business, might even show up to look at what you want done, good luck if he ever gets back to you. Mostly they drive around in their $50,000 pickups looking for easy work and easy marks to ripoff. Buy a new place or something in perfect condition if you can't do your own work. HD shut down because the lazy bums around here don't take care of their places, just sit around smoking weed all day watching them fall apart. Ride around and look at all the dumps, places looks like west virginia or mississippi because the lazy bums won't even get rid of their trash. They steal anything that is easy to grab and than the cops blame hunters, tourist and out of state people when reality is the local trailer trash steal everything. |
|
Joe you seem to know Brattleboro quite well. I agree that town is going down. Hopefully the good people in town will take it back from the liberal dirtbags. |

Its time to stop letting these right wingers stop getting away with acting tough! Its based clearly on internal shivering little-boy insecurity! I mean look at all this whining! Brattleboro aside, they blame all the stuff wrong in America on liberals, yet in the last 30 years, Republicans have controlled the White House, Congress and the Senate for the majority of that time! Do liberals have magical powers that let them overcome that anyways?
You are such whiners! |
|
reality is 6 years Newt got control of congress and dealt with 6 years of clintons rain of terror on the American public and it wasn't until Bush took office the republicans where running the country and inherited decades of liberal nonsense and the clinton mess. Reality is they would have been voted out of office if they took all the programs away people have become addicted to. The government doesn't control the people who have cut their own throats, just tries to manage the mess created by the people who are addicted to government spending and imports. Go smoke another one and take a nap. |
|
Like Exxon, Haliburton, agribusiness, Big Mining, Big Timber, the Pharmaceutical industry, and all the other special interests receiving billions in corporate welfare and no-bid back-room government contracts. Meanwhile these right-wing crazies want you to believe it's all little old ladies and their Social Security checks bankrupting the country... |
|
Business's don't pay any taxes, they pass them onto the consumers. If you would like to pay higher prices for oil products, timber, drugs and what not, cut off the government benefits they receive and tax them more. What is bankrupting the country is only half the people have so called jobs, many of them don't produce nothing of any value and are just a drain on society suffling papers to comply with government rules or employed by the government. 50% of the population is living off the government spending in one way or another. Imports are killing the economy along with government spending/handouts. All the people living off the spending and sucking off the suffering love people like you that believe it's the evil corporation while they rob you blind and barely work if at all. |

Them people is ruinin' americca An dont fergit about them lousy foreingers makin cheap stuff an forcin' us to buy it at Walmart. Its a-killin-us, i tell ya If it warnt fer all them bad people, americca would be doin just fine. we got a big army, dont we? |

Decades of 'liberal nonsense'? Huh? Maybe you are using the 'new math'- but here is what I see: Starting in 1980: 8 years of Reagan 4 years of Bush I 8 years of Clinton 8 years of Bush II So in the last about three decades there have been around 20 years of Repug control to 8 years of Dem control of the White House? Those dang liberals must be either smarter, stronger or carry magic powers to have overpowered all the Repug years!(Or else you are just a well trained puppy by Faux types and will just spin around the simple math here!) |
|
|
If anyone finds life rough in America, they are beyond help.
|
|
|
new math ? nope just old government, congress sends bills to the president and he either signs or veto's them so reagan & Bush 1 had little real power and Bush 2 sure hasn't had a stranglehold on the senate to railroad through bills with power brokers like kennedy & Byrd and a few others running the show.
Just because you Reagan cheerleaders lost your butts in the DOT.CON swindle of the century and suddenly became flag waving liberals doesn't change history. |
|
I didn't lose anything Joe, I saw that one coming. And I saw the real estate and credit bubbles coming. How about you stud? BUT, I'm watching the markets now, and frankly - as a TRUE patriot - its time to see this game end. So I'm going to get pleasure from watching you get handed your redneck lard butt on a platter! http://www.kitco.com/charts/livegold.html http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/ http://quotes.ino.com/chart/... You want to learn something about money and banking besides what Faux doesn't tell you? http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse And since you are a simplistic thinker Joey, Chis is a card carrying Repugnican -- so its ok to watch a few of these short videos. |

a lot of people never had nothing to lose, explains the membership in the Hate Bush Cult also.
people like chris cash in on the paranoid people, sell them books. here's one the doom & gloom people will love http://www.economyincrisis.org/ |

Heh! I'm not cashing in on it, nor do I find it gloomy. Some people like to watch ultimate fighting, or football - I enjoy reading history, and watching it get made. For good things to happen, bad systems must fail ... evolution, she is a *itch! This is now a bad system. I want America to push on and do great things for the world again, I'm proud of much of our past. However, this current setup is a goner, and I'm eating popcorn and cheering, and laughing as I watch the daily/weekly/yearly numbers roll on!
I am a true patriot, I believe in the America our founders created. That dream has gotten hollowed out. Time for a big change. Don't prove that "... last refuge of the scoundrel" bit by refusing to acknowledge that TRUE patriots do not need to march in lockstep, in fact such an unquestioning following is quite contrary to the American spirit! So, in my case, its not ''paranoia'' or ''doom and gloom'' to see the obvious path of collapse. Its HOPE and OPTIMISM! I wish nobody would get hurt or killed as the systems collapse and reform, unfortunately I AM a bit pessimistic about the details of how that will play out! |
