I worked at Antioch in the turbulent early 60's at the height of Viet Nam protest era. That is when Antioch should have closed. My resignation was tendered the day a group took down the American flag and flew the flag of North Viet Nam. When I interrupted a Deans meeting to inform them and to advise the news media had arrived, their attitude was "oh, they're at it again." I could no longer take money from or give my support to an institution that was so far away from my morals and/or standards.

Always amuses me when people go on about the hippies and how they hate this town, but still come here to shop or haven't seen it since the 70's and are just rehashing what they heard or saw 30 years ago. Most of the hippies you gawk at don't live here, they come here because they think we are still a hippie town? Then some hater out of town comes here and photographs what they think are hippies and declare, "ooooooh, look at the hippies." Most of the population here are not hippies, they are not distinguishable from anyone else outside of Yellow Springs and they work in your schools, the base, and various professions that exist outside of this town. Still if you want to come here and spend your money, whine away.

You get a real world education at Antioch, you can major in protesting and minor in rolling joints!

Yeah, it's a sentimental ole alumni and occupunks trying to keep thier icon. I doubt it will work, nothing special about a lefty school in lefty nation.
