There are a lot of companies that have been doing this for years, not just Amway. They do it to save on benefits.
Years ago, Meijer had a policy that in order to get benefits, you had to be full time working 36 hours a week for a consecutive x amount of weeks. Just as you were on your last week to qualify, they would send you home early or tell you they didn't need you that day, just so your count would start all over again.
I have a neighbor that works for Amway, 2nd shift, full time, and has been there for years. He loves it there, and can't say enough about how well he and his family are treated by the DeVos'.

Yeah, there are a lot of companies doing this and especially because benefits have increased so much. It was a nice place to work for and they had remodeled everything in the customer service area, but I still think he could hire some more people in. I do realize he has done a lot for West Michigan and that is great. Everyone that I knew that was full time seemed to be happy. I do know that they have great customer service!

Wait a minute. Are we not talking about the rock band from Akron?
|
The more you post the dumber you sound. The Devos family are crooks. They broke the law in the usa then china and other countries (the same laws) they were fined in all countries. yet they claim they werent doing nothing wrong. I see a pattern. Which country will file a lawsuit next with the same charges as the other countriies? Devos lost by a major majority because the majority of people are smarter than you!!!!! |
|
Maybe if the Devos' were as nice as they portray to be, people would leave them alone. I run a non-profit in Grand Rapids that provides free referral services for the homeless & low income in the central Grand Rapids area. http://www.geocities.com/AmbassadorsoftheLigh... You be surprised the poor help out more than any of the rich. None of the Devos', Van Andels or their corporations or Foundations help much with this stuff, they specificaly help only with hospital & art and help the rich get richer and poor get poorer. IF they helped 501(c) 3 non-profits that are small & local like ours then maybe we could provide more & better referrl services and then they wouldn't ahve alot of people downtown on Monroe center begging for money, food, bus fare, because we could provide referral service to help them with their basic needs so they would have money for other stuff like bus money and money to get back on their feet. But why help the homeless or organizations it is easier to call the cops and say people are panhandling or digging in the trashj cans for pop cans. Yet he can afford helicopter(s), money to convince neighbors to change their minds, but can't even help support local non-profits that are for homeless & poor in Grand Rapids. We didn't even ask for $20,000 or 1 million like Spectrum. We only asked for $5,000 but would been satified with $500 or $1,000 (which is chump change to him) just to know he cared some, but so far he doesn't. So if youa re really afamily member I dare you to bother looking at our website at:www.geocities.com/Ambassado rsoftheLight |

All you Democrats can not stand the good things the Devos family has done for Grand Rapids. Get over it. I am glad you are in support of our govenor that has destroyed our state. |
|
Corruption Control I suppose you support Granholm too. |
|
Or Corruption Control is Granholm. Look at all the idiot post this person makes. I would guess it is her. |

Insulting people would make you what a "Genius"? And Can you back up your statement "I only wish he was our Governor because the state would be in better hands"? An idiot would speak out of turn about something they know nothing about, like helicopters. |
So apparently you know all of the charities Devos donates to? I find that hard to believe. Just because he chooses not to donate to your single charity does not mean he hasn't given to dozens of others. How would you like someone telling you what to do with your money? It doesn't matter if he gives you a $100 or 1 million, some people just love to hate those who have what they don't. |

Rough life having to ride around in a helicopter, I'm sure. Worse yet, living in Ada of all places. Geesh. Put the house up for sale if it's such a bother.
I like a few of Amway's products - I tell them at the onset that I just want to buy a few things, no sales calls and I'll pay cash so my personal info isn't stored somewhere. The local rep I've worked with is fine with that. For the record, I know that Jay VanAndel and Rich DeVos literally swindled the scientist that put together a few of their first cleaning soap formulas. These two are more of the hucksters and didn't have a scientific background. They needed someone to create the product they wanted to sell. Ethical? Probably not. But if you think these are the only two who've ever done something underhanded... well... ask Bill Gates how he's doing today. Happens all the time. |

Where have you been Miss Meow?? Don't let the trolls get you down. |
Are you a troll? because you sound like a troll. |

Very well stated, Marion. But, now I’m jealous of your hay field – just kidding.
I am very pleased that you have a field and are able to plant harvest a crop of hay from it. It pays some bills and is a good way to meet barrel racers. The hay field is beautiful - we've mowed an area for landing- sun tea is brewing and I'm rounding up some barrels and bronks. But I haven't heard a word from Mr. DeVos - what's with that? |

Now only trolls jump in and reply to posts not concerning them. Ignorance is displayed by those who join into the middle of a argument without knowing the full details. |
