I had a similar communication flap with Sears. I ordered a TV online & went to pick it up in the store. I wanted to use a different credit card & an associate offered to use it, but couldn't reinstate a discount I had earlier used. He called his supervisor & she went to say that the order was placed @ Sears online & the retail store had nothing to do with the order. It wasn't until her Manager came, that the issue was resolved. It seemed like they were trying to sell the opinion that Sears online & Sears retail store were two different public holding companies.
So you buy an online product, then expect the same discount in store? Do you realize that discounts online can only match companies like walmart.com and amazon with online distribution policies that don't have to worry about the overhead of having actual brick and mortar stores that they have to pay to actually deal with you. Its easy to sell when you don't have to be responsible and have someone that you can come in to yell at if anything goes wrong. Try getting an online deal from walmart.com at walmart. it doesn't happen because they can't do it. My dad bought a tv at walmart.com and it was cancelled twice without notification and no one at the store could help him. They wouldn't honor the price from store stock either.
