I just read a study on bone loss medications and Actonel is also listed as not safe.

Actonel indeed has been reported to work faster than Fosamax. However, as medications, they are known to carry certain risks. For instance, the long-term use of Fosamax has been linked to femur fractures, adverse effects that have reported to occur for at least a couple of years. Although Actonel has been known to work faster than Fosamax, both osteoporosis drugs are associated with serious side-effects. There have been many reports of women suffering from femur fractures, ONJ and heart diseases due to Fosamax use.
