Home Depot has the worst customer service of any home center chain in Chicago.
I drive past 2 HD's on my way to Lowe's. For a long time I tolerated their ineptitude, including insults from staff, long lines, etc. No more. |

HD service sucks as Saluki says. I went to buy a fridge from Schaumburg HD and they did not have the one I wanted though they had a model on display, so the "manager" takes down my number promising to call me the next day. No call. Then I go back in the evening, the mgr sees us and slips away. Gone for the day! I ask the other guy when the fridge would be available, he laughs and says "who knows!!"
We walked out and bought it from BestBuy. |

Customer Service sucks.
No one is ever on the floor that knows a nail from houseplant. Return policy now demands your drivers license even when you have a receipt. Has signs in the store isles in Spanish now to attract the illegals. Frequely the item you want is out of stock and no one knows why or when they might have more. Employees even wear camouflage clothes to try and hide so they don't have to answer a question. Lowe's and Ace Hardware are head and shoulders above Home Depot. The stock has gone nowhere since 2003 - do management care? |

Lowe's most definitely has the Mexican "catering" thang going on too!
I blame HD for major losses in home values in the Metro Detroit area and, now, here in Chicagoland. Imagine the same $15 light fixture in a $600/mo. rental and a $950,000 single family home. Or the ruts dug into the hardwood floors of a beautiful Metro Detroit 1920's tudor from a rented HD machine? We can all DIY or hire Pedro ya know! It all comes out in the wash. I really have no need for them anymore and could care less if they go belly-up. I'm renting for $750/mo now and will quickly remove those atrocious flex-stoned light fixtures in my new $900,000 Chicago digs that I procured for $300K! |
