This thing is horrible. It comes out of no where and hits hard! I thought it was food poisoning at first. I couldn't even keep water down, which is scary since you are losing so much water! Watch out for dehydration!

The shits can dehydrate you real fast, that is why doctors tell patients to drink LOTS OF GATORADE to replace the precious electroylytes, etc.

As for food poisoning, steer clear of White Castle on Queens blvd. You will get the worse ass burns of your life!!!!!!!!!!

Was crapping liquid for about 6 hours. The following day I was finally able to eat something around noon. By 5:00 dinner time I was crapping out what I just ate for lunch. Was almost as bad as the Montezuma's I got in Mexico a few years back. Nothing like a good dose of intestinal parasites to brighten your day.
You probably caught it from the tainted Exxon Mobil fuel nozzle,Citgo has "cleaner" fuel nozzles.

Carla, I was wondering about the illnesses going around and if leg cramps were a symptom. My son is on medication for strep throat, and he seems to have gotten a cold in the process, lots of coughing, sneezing. But the other morning he woke up with strange leg cramps. I thought maybe he had twisted his leg the day before but he told me, No. What's strange is that I'm also feeling a little "under the weather" and have slight leg cramps. Are leg cramps a symptom of one of the viruses going around?

We're in Jersey and I'm enduring this right now, since late last night.(crapping blood is not fun.) And it's a good thing the toilet is next to the bathtub, because the tub served as a puke spot since I couldn't get off the toilet.
Just wanted to clarify, if you have this, drinking water with vomiting is a sure way to keep it going. Also, you need to replace the salts and sugars that you're losing - drinking H2O will just create further imbalances. Use the emergency rehydration solution used in third world countries if you get get ahold of an electrolyte replacement powder. Consists of 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 3 teaspoons sugar in a liter or quart of water. When you're really thirsty, this helps a lot. Take it by the teaspoon until you're comfortable enough to go faster. You won't get the potassium that you need from the electrolyte powder, but this is what I did in the middle of the night and it slowed the puking way down.
The aches can be helped by using acetiminophen suppositories (have to ask at the pharmacy counter, but they can be bought without a prescription.) It's taken away my aches and headache.
My sympathy to anyone enduring this - it sucks!

I just noticed that everyone was from either NY or NJ.......I'm willing to bet you all are from the city. Both those cities are filled with all kinds of shit.....I bet if you lived out in the good ol country you'd be a lot healthier.

This stomach thing...has anyone been having symptoms on and off?

I threw up right after Christmas and had all the symptoms discussed (except restless legs).

Since then it seems to go away for a few days and then it just whacks me out in the stomach again...

I was never the type to get stomach illnesses during flu season...but this one did and I cannot get rid of it...

I am eating mostly just the BRAT diet, though, I do try to get more nutrients in by putting everything in the blender...

not throwing up or running to the bathroom anymore...but my stomach feels like someone lit an eternal bbq in there...and the chills and hot spells are not so pleasant either...

mostly just resting, listeneing to what my innards are trying to tell me
...like...
I need something, cool, sweet and fruity (like apple sauce) thirsty...tiny bits of room temp Fuji water ...etc...Orzo suits me better than rice for that feeling of soothing satisfaction.

Never was I one to complain much about my
health challenges, but I feel very alone with this one....

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy (if I had any...teeheehee)

People with the earliest posts, I would love to read that you have recovered and what you did to get better...

I wish everyone writing here complete recoveries. I wish you all that this virus is one of those things you get just once and then get immune to it forever!

Sincerely, Izzybits

Your measurements are wrong. The Mayp Clinic says to use 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 3 tablespoons sugar in 1 quart drinking water.
Be sure to measure accurately because incorrect amounts can make the solution less effective or even harmful. If possible, have someone else check your measurements for accuracy.

You should probably see a doctor. I started feeling sick with it a couple of days ago, and stuck to a liquid diet the first 24 hours. After that, I started to feel pretty good, so I went back to my regular diet and got hit with it again. So, it is probably best to eat light for about a week, and get plenty of rest. I am going to see if it works for me.
