Publix gave the money or was it from its customers giving it. It's getting when everytime you go to Publix they ask for a contribution for this and that. They even ask twice when you say no. Then you get bumbarded going through the entrances.

I agree, I get hassled everytime I go to Publix to give money for something, it seems they try to guilt you into giving money, sick and tired of all the handouts. I give to the cancer foundation and a few others. Why should publix get credit for hassling customers to give money every single time you go through the lanes, and you get hit when you leave by some other group.

Get rid of the "Homeless Herald" as well, I am tired of these people at every single intersection asking for a hand out, and its highly annoying when they approach your vehicle and wave and beg, I dont believe that is teaching or rehabilitating anybody, all it is teaching is pan handling.

1. I'd rather Publix lower prices for essential foods, such as milk.
2. How much did the school board donate? Is this a line item in the budget? This is TAXPAYER money, not the government's.

The united way gave money to the Stonewall Library and Porn Collection that is being located in the library at Holiday Park, the cities largest children's park. They need to look again at their priorities. I giv my money to the Boy Scouts.

the truth wrote: why is the school board giving money away when there's NONE to give? how can they give tax dollars away to begin with? Our town makes contributions to non profit orgs as well. Funny thing though, these non profits are never subject to audits or audited financial statements.(nice way to funnel money isn't it) United Way is a good group but why are our tax dollars being donated? Is it really necessary for a tax write off. Aren't our taxes costing us enough already? And who is some panel or council or commissioner to decide to whom to donate my tax dollars. Seems a bit suspicious to me. If I want to donate my money, I'll donate. Who the hall is anyone to donate it for me?

So, are the employees strong armed into giving? I was at one place that I worked. I finally gave in, knowing that I was going to quit and move to another State. The UW chased me to my new home over 1000 miles away trying to collect that money.

Miguel, do you think it is ok for the united way to fund hard core pornography to be placed in a park for children? It is wrong and is harmful to children and until the United Way gets over this political correct crap, they will continue to lose support. When the library opens, there is going to be a major drive to inform contributors of the United Way that contributions are funding porn. Miguel wrote: <quoted text> Get over yourself you closet case! Oh my gosh, that is SO awful. To place homeless people panhandling for money at every side of every intersection in upscale areas. Nice! That's GREAT! That's gotta' go. They running around in traffic, jumping in front of cars. Awful.

I go out of my way to shop at Publix because they afford disadvantaged people a dignified way to support themselves. When one of their employees insist that they help me with my purchases, although I used to decline, I now thank them for their help and see the appreciation in their faces for me allowing them do so. Publix deserves the community's apreciation for being a good neighbor.I just love my Publix in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
