Now the little pampered suburban children will have to get a real good fake ID because this means that everyone under 50 will be carded in Glastonbury.

But, these kiddies will simply go to mom and dads stash and get what they need.

Laut said historically the town has passed the checks "with flying colors."

You've GOT to be kidding me! Does he think that all the Glastonbury kids crashing their cars only buy liquor out of town?

A significant percentage of Glastonbury's teen culture is tied to drinking alcohol. When is the town going to take its head out of the sand when an officer of the Glastonbury Alcohol and Drug Council thinks this is an ANOMALY!?

I grew up in Glastonbury. Getting booze was easy. I didn't drink in high school, but some of the parties I went too in town gave the frats at UConn a run for their money.

More enforcement is needed, since underage drinking in G-bury is a problem no one wants to talk about.

This is no surprise to me at all. Glastonbury has long had a problem with underage drinking.

Given the comments about Glastonbury's "long history" it does not appear that "passing with flying colors" equates with no problem. Perhaps it's simply a matter of "better bait" this time. Notwithstanding, perhaps a better result would have been if the authorities went around to the various establishments, reviewed their procedures, and warned them of upcoming stings. Instead of "gotch ya" you would have gotten greater compliance and those "stung" afterwards would have been more deserving of the fines and forced closures of their businesses. This state is very difficult to do business in, even in good times. Reviewing the stores which are listed, I doubt very much there is a collective effort to sell to minors; they don't need the problem.

I loved my high school days in Glastonbury in the early 80s. The alcohol flowed like you wouldn't believe. Those were the days.

Great times in the 1970s, but about 25% of some High Schools classes, 1972 are now dead from drugs and alcohol. Connecticut is more of a socialist police state.

The Village?
The Housing Authority neighborhood. It's like a little North End (Hartford) and nothing but trouble. The Glastonbury cops are even too scared to go in there. Nothing but losers hanging in the streets when you drive through the Village.
