BOB wrote: You may call yourself a 'CHRISTIAN' however you are anything but Christ-like. Your bigoted assumptions give away your true creed. Have you ever heard of the vast numbers of Syrian and other middle eastern Christians?(Not that it matters what faith Matt believes in). <quoted text> Look, I believe in the biblical imperative that we must help the poor, elderly and needy. If you think that "christening" an enterprise which rapes the poor, robs the elderly and creates more needy people is fine, then that's your right to defend these folks and what they stand for. This casino is morally and ethically reprehensible. It is going to bring about more suffering and pain than we can imagine. If Mr. Assad is Christian (yes I know Christian Syrians and Lebonese use this surname) than shame on him for using this term in reference to a most sinful place. If he is not Christian, shame on him for not being sensitive to the association of the term with a most evil place. I don't know about you Bob, but when I attend a "chistening" it's to celebrate the initiation of another member of the body of Christ. I hear they're "christening" a new crackhouse not far from the casino - do you plan to attend?

We're not talking about a crucifix in a jar of urine. We're discussing a reporter using a common verb (often used to name all sorts of things) in an article. The anti-intellectual vein in your Christianity is also very interesting.

How is that before even all these "slot parlors" have been built, our "esteemed" Edward G. and his cronies in the legislature are talking about adding gaming tables? Did no one see this coming? This was/is inevitable, and our SORRY politicians will only find this as a means to cash in.

Ragland, you don't know when to stop. I guess the old tradition of christening a ship is satanic? BTW you're the one who should learn how to read a dictionary.#3 by your own definition has nothing to do with religion. You dont get combine all 4 definitions together just to please yourself.

Wow, ignorance is rampant. The primary definition is the most common, best use. Chistening a passenger ship is an acceptable use. Christening a casino is unacceptable. Maybe you should have paid more attention in English class in grammar school.

Just wait until musikfest is held in this gated area of the casino, where we'll have to pay to get in. Kind of defeats the purpose of a grass roots festival it had once been. Doesn't look good for the natives, but yipee for greedy corporate snakes.

I'd like to know how the issue of traffic is going to be addressed, it already takes me 30 minutes to drive 5 miles. I guess it's time to move, unfortunate because like so many others my entire history is here.

I cannot wait for the casnio to open. Finally a nice close place to go that will bring jobs and revenues to our area. Stop complaining if you don't like casnio's they stay home!

Shut the casino down before it opens. It will bring more unsavory to the area than good it will do.

I always find it funny how these casinos portray themselves as "glamorous" and "classy" in their advertising. Men in suits, attractive women, etc. But when you actually go there, it's all senior citizens, and fat guys in t-shirts and shorts. I'm sure this one will try the same approach, but it's not exactly going to become a local hotspot.

Your own definition shows that it is a proper use: 3. to name and dedicate: to christen a ship. Part of the definition is to name and dedicate. To christen a ship is an example of the usage. The word is often used in this way, it is not the exclusive domain of Christianity.

It's good that an experienced corporation that is not associated with organized crime is running this facility.

I haven't read such hyperbolic, sulphuric bile in awhile. See, see, THIS is what happens when change comes to Bethleum! Why can't we all just get along?
Good call by the Sands and the mcall. I'm making a list of names for Santa for 2010. There is still that stench of NIMBYousity permeating the air. Where's Crusader Rabbit when you need him to educate his friend? Hey, isn't a Crusader an afront to the muslum society?

However, I lived in Las Vegas when it was still the size of Allentown and I can tell you that when the lights aren't dazzling you anymore after the first week or two, you can see what a morally depraved area it is. Every drifter and 'free-mealer' that can get there, is there, from several states nearby. Crime increases, people aren't trustworthy. You have to watch your back for scams on an increased level. It's just bad business all around. And since we already see how fast they want to ramp up to full bore casino games, we'd be nuts to take it all lightly. WHERE - ANYWHERE in the US (with the POSSIBLE exception of the "Indian" Casinos) has ANY OF THE ANTICIPATED "WEALTH" actually made-it down to the communities? Atlantic City? Poconos? Gulf Coast? Each state governor grows a hard-on a mile long over the prospect of revenues, lies to his constituents about lower taxes, increased services and other BS, then pockets all of the money in the state's coffers. When a highway is a piece of crap, or a bridge is falling down?......More taxes for us. I invite ANYONE to provide an example to the contrary.

All the people who are complaining about the casino should NOT have their tax bills reduced by the casnio revenues!!

Calling themselves Christians does not mean that they truly ARE. Has the person been slain in the Spirit? Are they washed in the Blood of the Lamb? Do they accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and do they endeavor to walk the Path of Righteousness? If one can honestly answer YES to these questions then that person is truly a Christian.

If you're a heroin addict in Bethlehem you may be in luck ? Mir puts a real hands on feel to rehab addicts and not send them out in the street ?
Just my guess but she has put a lot of money into clinics in Vegas and Israel in an effort to help this problem. She has some tough ways but one way or the other if you're under her care you won't be dealing or carrying . Heroin addicts are the walking dead if they don't break their habit . One way or the other your habit will end.
