This is a political ploy aimed at distracting attention from Nassau’s inaccurate and unjust assessment system.
Keep the Donald!
Dump Harvey!

Nassau's assessment system is no longer inaccurate or unjust, because Charlie O'Shea repaired it just 6 short years ago.
See, the Nassau Assessment were "frozen" for SIXTY YEARS, so there's still a lot of puddles left as ANNUAL reviews are conducted, just as in any other smart business or corporation.
So if you're not happy with the system, and you want to "re-freeze" the assessments, then you also have to call your bank and tell them to "freeze" your 2.5% interest rate on your savings or C.D., then tell your employer that you want a 5-year "freeze" on your salary, and, finally, call up Mr. Steinbrenner and tell him to "freeze" the World Series appearences for the Yankees (oh, wait, they're already three years into that plan - sorry).
Please stop the obsession with taxes, and get involved and active in your local community and get obsessed with SPENDING - that's the ony thing we the people can actively reduce - but it takes hard work.
And NO we don't need a PRIVATE CLUB on a PUBLIC BEACH, especially if it's only generating $1 for the State for every $5 it makes... let's see what the Donald thinks about a 50-50 split, huh?
Oh, right he can only get "medium-rich" that way?

"The state also will receive a percentage of the food and beverage sales after four years, and $200,000 in yearly rent from Trump, who is partnering with Long Island caterer Steven Carl."
Wow let him operate for 4 YEARS without paying any food or beverage taxes. Somebody was REALLY paid off!

Pawn wrote: Why are we paying high taxes and yet private entities are taking over puplic places? I said this more than once on this topic. We all need to take a stand and not pay any more taxes and see what will happen to the politicans. If we all did it there would be nothing they could do. So people lets get together and the politicans will not be able to take their luxury vacations live in the homes they in and ROB from us. Why do you think they want to become politicans. So they end up with nice thick pockets in the end. We all need to take a stand and stop paying taxes to crooks who steal from us.

I think its a great idea. Perhaps this will bring muticulteral diversity to the wantagh area. This area has always been segregated and its time for a change.

The "Dump on the Ocean" is yet another Republican example of " Who Gives a damn" decisions meant to line the pockets of campaign contributors and political machine members. The Connection with Bernadette Castro chosen by George Pataki to allow such monstrous misuse of public State Parkland, and Alfonse D'Amato New York's "Former Senator Shakedown" who hand picked Pataki to be governor leaves little doubt that there will be some Quid Pro Quo pay-offs to all involved. The public, as usual, will lose. A thorough investigation into the whole seamy deal, and who paid for it, and who the 'Investors' are, and where will the money go later should be demanded by the public now before the ribbon cutting ceremony occurs.

I would like more information on what Trump is building and where. Who gave Trump permits to build at the bandshell? Isn't it an historical landmark?
What is to prevent McDonalds from taking over the mini golf course?
This is deeply troubling. Jones Beach should be kept pristine so it does not turn into Ocean City Maryland, Santa Cruz, CA, or Atlantic City, NJ.
Thank you.

The old Boardwalk restaurant was a dump with bad food and views. Now someone wants to actually make the place nice and he's paying rent and generating sales tax revenue. If they wanted to negotiate the school taxes, that should have been done first, not after the fact.

Why does a State Park need to be Commercialized? I thought the reason for the Parks System was to be able to get away from all that noise in the first place? Ahhh. NYS Politicians. They'll screw us any way they can. This was a done deal before the public ever knew about it.

Ya gotta hand it to Levinson. While wrong on the law, he has made this a good PR issue. Lets look at Carlton on the Park, does it pay property tax (or a PILOT)?, What about the catering hall in Bethpage State Park? What about the Restaurant in Central Park? Where these leases negotiated by the Pataki administration, as one poster has suggested? Its a good job of distracting from the back door tax increase that Harvey institutes with his re-assessment values.
