LI Treasure wrote: " Jones Beach was created for the working class to relax. Trump suing rather than working out the details for the good of the land shows he doesn't care about people or nature. " That is a good point. I remember Long Island when it wasn't congested, if you left early there wasn't the traffic jams at 5 am that there are now, where on weekends you could take a drive just for the beauty of seeing the island and it was pleasurable. Now that just is impossible. The problem is we're an island where land and access roads are finite. There were reasons for height and land requirements on the island it was to preserve the beauty of the island . Overpasses on some roads were designed for that very purpose. Probably the only thing that keeps me on the island is the beach. I've been going to it since I was little ,I surfed on it as a teen and now I'm just in awe at it's beauty. I see how people use it during the hours where it is quiet. Every day the ocean looks different depending on the sun. You see people finding peaceful solace for loved ones they have lost . Walkers getting their exercise and working out the latest problem they've incurred, cheaper then phyciatry. It's just like LI Treasure said "Jones Beach was created for the working class to relax" I used to go to the Hampton when it too was a pleasure to be out there. Now the hassle and congestion isn't worth it . Our beach is as beautiful as any out there .Our island is a jewel that is quickly fading . Don't let it become what almost every other bit of shoreline has become from N. J. to Florida totally developed. I drove the shoreline once just to see if there was a beach like ours and there isn't. Making our island beaches even more precious.

Commack Kid wrote: Hope Trump wins, as the state is jerking around with the project. Anything that adds to the Island should be encouraged. They are not jerking him around. I do not care if he builds it, or something else goes there. However on his orginal plans the basement did not change from what was there and when the final plans were submitted it was twice the size, not to mention a number of other changes. If he submitted what he said he would, the building what have been half way done by now. Hope the state countersues for lost tax revenue due to this.

Trump Go Home
|
I am surprised there is not more people expressing their feelings about this Trump debacle. Long Islanders need to band together to stop these greedy titans from ruining our home. We all need to let our elected officials know of our objection so that Trump will not have his way with our beautiful Jones Beach State Park. I'am not opposed to replacing the resturant at the site but, as stated by others, it should be for the general public not for the wealthy elite, as is Trump's intent at $250. a plate soon thereafter to be $500. a plate. Trump GO HOME !!

As a former Long Islander my 1st impression is - we don't want Trump. Don't come in here with your upscale plans and try to make Jones Beach a place for the rich. This isn't West Palm Beach. lets let jones beach turn into a dump like coney island... go trump

Please don't tell us how many jobs this business may bring...not enough to make a big enough difference. Don't you have enough money Mr. Trump??? priscilla wrote: Trump will take what is Long Island's most natural and beautiful assest and ruin it forever if Long Islander's don't take a stand . A beautiful restaurant in the spirit that Robert Moses wanted for this beautiful spot is what should be built. Nowhere is the Robert Moses name represented in the park but his vision is a testiment to excellance. We have to preserve this stretch of natures gift for the generations that follow on Long Island. If not then it will become just another piece of land that has buildings adorning the shoreline and it will have lost it's beauty for all to come. Once a shoreline is lost it's lost forever. priscilla,,,, are you high,, do you realy beleive what you wrote....did you even read it after you wrote it ..
