Yes, I add my salary..and I know the toke rate (tokes are more regulated than taxes in this country)...You understand that I have been there 6 years and get $6.19 when I go on vacation? also, you understand that the chips you saw for dealers tips get split by all? All 2000 of us? I care of my base pay, yes, as it is simply ILLEGAL because we are not covered by the waiter/waitress minimum wage (our start pay is less than theirs by the way, and they get at LEAST $1 per drink)...how about the rest of the building? It costs $14.10 per hour to live and the hourly "non-tipped" employees make around $8-$9 per hour and have to bust their butts for it! Also, you do know that Slot Attendants pool their tips in a similar fashion that we do, right? Well, Slot Attendants start at $8.00 per hour and we start at $5.16 per hour!
Also, please keep in mind that our Toke Rate is controlled by the house...walk by the hi stakes pits and see nobody...walk by a craps pit and see no more than 6 people (on 16 person tables) on each table...these tables staying open and wasting dealer hours lowers our Toke Rate...the Toke Rate is based on all gratuities from every shift for every day of the week, split up and paid to all dealers based on an hourly rate on how many hours each dealer works...we do ok on the "kindness of strangers", but the house controls our toke rate by wasting hours and then if you want a vacation you get a check for 40 hours thats less than $200 after taxes... Also, Dealers in Vegas and Atlantic City range from $70,000 to $100,000....less than $40,000 in CT...the State with the HIGHEST cost of living of any state with gambling....is that the customers fault? For the most part, NO...it's the Tribe and managements fault! Happy employees lead to making happier guests...hard to show good customer service when you have to debate food for your family OR gas to go to work.... Their garbage wages is ruining YOUR experience at the Casino! |

Also, our Tokes (tips) are reported..we don't get cash...they are taxed and put into our check at the full tax rate of hourly pay, not at a TEPA rate that other tip-receiving jobs use...TEPA rates legally justify unclaimed income....I am taxed on my tips in the same manner as if the house paid me the wages...we are also, as dealers, cherged a penalty when they turn the tokes over to the cage to be deposited into our collective Toke account...are you, as a player, charged a fee when you cash your chips in? we are!
I appreciate your patronage, and your gratuities...that is our entire life! |

Too bad Hartford did not vote to get the Bellagio! Can you imagine the difference today if that happened? We would still have the Whalers, Patriots, an NBA team and even a MLB team and the politics would not be the socialistic/communist we see today with 'Fidal" Perez! We would see people on the streets, shops(really), and a lot less drive by shootings!!!. But THANKYOU HARTFORD COURSNT FOR YOUR NOW FAMOUS " NO,NO,NO TO THE CASINO", and that fated Hartford into its sad condition today!!!!

Dumbest decision in CT ever. We can thank Lowell Weicker and his backroom dealings with Foxwoods for that one. Look at Foxwoods ... and look at the city of Hartford today. You chased Steve Wynn and millions of tourists out of Hartford. Great decision Lowell you lowlife. |

I was at the MGM when they finally allowed the public in after waiting 3 hours in line. I was shocked to see how small the casino was. Most of the machines were not even working. The escalators also stopped working. They should have not open the casino until they knew everything was ready, and had the the people to handle the lines better. I senior citzens being pushed so other people move up in the line for nothing only to have to wait longer. I seen a lot of people leave because they like thay had not been treated correctly.

Wow, what an eye opener. I knew the pay wasn't good, but didn't realize it was that bad and that you have to split tips with everyone else. |
