Do you ever think about what you write before you write it?
Hint: people come to this country to have a better life. They want to be rewarded for their efforts. They want to make money. In short, they come here _to work_.
Sheesh.
The come here to work ILLEGALLY which takes jobs away from born and bred citizens because many business owners, including construction, can skirt the system with paying these immigrants much less than what they would otherwise have to pay citizens with the proper papers.

Looks like the tax dollars that are diverted toward race issues are being well spent. The ignorance of those who automatically assume that this man is illegally here, among other assumptions, is astounding to me. Educate yourselves before you go making a fool of yourself... Just because you hide behind an alias does not make you any smarter.

Apparently, you cannot read, either, so I'll spell it out for you:

When making a rant about how people should learn English, it pays to write above the level of a third grader.

Why has everyone assumed he's not an American citizen?
And why is everyone so upset if he's not, and he won the lottery? Is there some kind of citizenship test when you buy one?
I was just responding to the other poster, but now that I think about it, can an illegal citizen cash in on his lottery winnings?
.
I'm sorta on the fence about a state sponsored vice being used to finance public education, but otoh, less taxes for me to pay :)

It was more just a general comment.

The problem with funding education this way, as pointed out earlier, is that it just gives Richmond an easy out. Sure, you and I pay less taxes, but education funding doesn't change since they just lower general fund expenditures.

Of course, I'm all for speed traps for that very reason -- why not make crappy drivers pay for the roads so I don't have to?

Freedom of speech means you get to say what you want. It doesn't mean I can't scorn and riducule you for your pathetic bigotry.

By the way, it's fascinating how a feel-good story about someone winning the lottery (regardless of what you think about the lottery) turns into a bunch of rants about immigration simply because the protagonist has a Latino name.
Is this place filled with winners, or what?
It is not what we feel about the lottery it is who wins it. Get a Clue!

All he will do is send the Americans money back to Mexico!!!! He belongs back there where he came from. He probably don't even pay taxes. As long as they go back to their country 1 month out of the year they have to pay NOTHING here, but they are living here and using our roads that we have to pay all kind of taxes on. They get their vehicles registered in NC because they dont have to pay anything here for them.

I have no problem with Mexicans. They are very hard working and don't lie around expecting handouts and feel they are "owed" something. Sure, many get public assistance, but at least they work or actively seek work....

Congratulations to the winner! That is one of the advantage of lottery players have the chance of winning and they are able to help the students because part of the revenue goes to the scholarship programs. I hope I will become the next winner.
