I have a couple pieces of Sumter Centennial Oak 8900-series. I would love to complete the bedroom set if anyone has some for sale. whimmel@proteinspill.com
I have this series, also (rice bed, nightstand, large double door dresser w/ mirror, and highboy dresser). What pieces are you looking for, specifically? I am considering selling the highboy, only because I'm planning to rearrange our BR and downsize the amount of furniture. It is in excellent shape, as is the entire suite--we have been very pleased w/ how well the furniture has retained both its looks and function.

Do you still have the furiture? If so what bed do you have?
I don't have the matching bed. I'm interested in the sleigh or mantle bed.

I know what you mean--I'd kind of like to make a change, but I don't want to foolishly sell something that is still going up in value (if that is the case). Have you gotten any offers or figured out what value to put on which pieces?
Hi DebMc, This post is pretty old, but I sold Sumpter Furn for 8.5 yrs in a very high end furniture store & bought my own BR collection from them. My collection is the solid maple & I cannot remember the name of it since I bought it in 2000. I didn't know they had sold out but I can assure you that from 1992 through 2000 they made excellent quality furniture, and that is why I chose buying my bedroom suite from them. As it turns out now, I need to replace 2 Night stand tops. I would like to purchase the cultured marble tops that you could purchase with those NS's as an option. I could kick myself for not getting the marble tops when I ordered my collection. I can tell you that if you purchased your furniture between 1992, & 2000...you have very hi quality pieces! It took about 4-6 weeks to get a BR suite or dining room suite from some of the other hi-end collections that I sold such as Bernhardt, Baker, & Century. It took 10-14 weeks to get a Sumpter group because they couldn't turn them out as fast as they got the orders. I waited a very long time to get mine and worked there. If anyone out there knows the name of the solid maple collection with pieces to sale, I would be interested. I have the Hi Lo bed that is beautiful. They also offered a sleigh bed, and another bed with shorter post. There is a shell carved out pc in the center of the single mirror. I wouldn't sell my collection for anything. I just want to get 2 of the cultured marble tops if they are out there anywhere. They are interchangeable with the wooden tops because I checked on that b4 I bought mine, thinking someday I would switch them out. Please feel free to reply if anyone knows the name of my collection or knows where I can score 2 of those marble tops. I hope this helps you in deciding whether to sale your pc's. Good Luck to you!

This company is out of business now but i'm looking for anyone that knows about Sumter Cabinet dressers. The company was in business since the 1880's but was bought out in the 1990s and then went bankrupt. I bought a nice dresser from an antique store and would like info on it. I'd appreciate any help. I tried calling a couple of antique stores in Sumter but no help.
I own a Sumpter dresser that was bought in 1998-2000 along w/ the entire BR suite in the solid maple collection. I worked at the store that sold Sumpter for 8.5 years & their quality was right up there with hi end furniture that I sold thus the reason to buy my BR suite from them. Hope this helps

I have the same collection as you & I am looking for 2 of the cultured marble tops for the night stands that were optional when I bought mine. Also I would love to know the name of this collection if anyone remembers it. I have the Hi Lo bed if you saw it, and it is still as beautiful today as when I bought it in circa 1998-2000. I will stay on the look out for the pulls for you because I know exactly what they look like. Good luck! My NS have 1 drawer & I door.

Also anyone that recalls the name of the collection, I would love to know it. I cannot remember. I do know the rep that serviced our store & I am trying to reach out to him to see if he can get me these marble tops. Thank you in advance for your help.

I have a Sumter Set I am interested in selling. Solid Cherry. Where do I find the name of the collection?
It is most likely Cherryvale. That was the most popular solid cherry group that I sold. I worked in a hi end furniture store & sold lots of Sumpter because of the quality & price points. A lot of bang for your buck, in my humble opinion. I am looking for 2 cultured marble tops for the NS's in the Mecklenburg collection. I bought Sumpter for my own personal use as well.

My husband is from Sumter, and when we were engaged in 1971, we found an old and very sturdy dining table out in the outside garage at his parents' home there. It turned out to be one they had bought as part of a set when they married in 1930 from Sumter Furniture. We refinished it, and our three children grew up eating all our meals around it. It was a true source of pride to my father-in-law!
As our first chid needed to get out of the crib, we bought a beautiful trundle bed that turned out to be made by Sumter Furniture in the summer of 1974. That little boy dreamed many big dreams in that bed, and now our grandson is dreaming his dreams in that bed, just like his daddy did. And, our son has redone the old kitchen table into a massive coffee table for thier family room where our grandson colors, etc.
In 2005, our daughter found a wonderful cherry bedroom set online through one of the companies out of SE N.C. and bought it for her and her new husband. Well, it was so beautiful that I bought the king-size bed & matching pieces for us. Guess what? All of it was made by Sumter Furniture! We laugh that we just saw it and knew it was what we had looked for; and it was made by our favorite.
If you are looking for particular pieces, I would look at some of the online furniture sites out of NC and see if they have pieces. They had quite a bit when we got ours.
I am sure you can tell how special all of it is to us. It's beautiful, durable, and just sad that it is so difficult to find at present! Should anyone find any for sale, please post to this. Thanks for reading! Happy New Year!

Can you tell me where to look? I HAVE THE MECKLENBURG BR COLLECTION & I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE 2 OF THE CULTURED MARBLE tops go on my 2 NS's.(sorry about the caps...I didn't know the key was locked). I know they are interchangeable because I asked when I purchased the wooden tops, and the rep told me that they were. They are designed like this in case a top get damaged in shipping so it is easy to fix. Please reply if anyone knows where I can try to get these tops, or where to look.

I have a small Oak desk, not very big maybe 3'long. Very heavy. Four drawers. I found a stamp on the inside of one drawer--shaped like a triangle says Sumter Cabinet Co. SC. Furniture division. Seems I can barely see the word KORN also.
Please anyone any idea how old this desk might be???
I would love to know...

I am having an estate sale this weekend which has a sumter cabinet co., sumter, S.C. no. 800 series glen oak bedroom suit--standard size bed, dresser and chest of drawers, solid oak, which appears to be from the 1950s. In excellent shape, sturdy and well built. There is a brochure with the set which has pictures of the No. 800 series glen oak set, but no date.
