They never had a chance at 900 N Michigan with far better chocolate just down the street at Ghirardelli. And if you don't need sit-down Vosges beats both hands down.

I wonder if the cute house they occupy on Armitage will go up for sale?

Add me to the list of the not surprised. People are simply not going to spend that kind of money in this economy. In fact, they may never spend like that again. I won't be surprised when other businesses with the same plan (high prices for mediocre products) go the same way. I look for Cold Stone Gummery (er, Creamery)to be next.

There's ONLY one quality chocholate and they come from Belgium! Mars charged premium prices for second rate goods.
And what chocolate would that be?

Gee, too bad we are losing a purveyor of overpriced sugar, fat and calories. There are so few of them around.

I'm just as devastated that they closed Mrs. Mars's stores as I was when they closed Cereality.

This is not a surprise. They should had taking a clue/lesson from the other chocolate stores.

No surprise. Overpriced, mediocre chocolate. If I'm going to overpay for chocolate, I'll buy Godiva's or Vosges.

Really don't care. And, to tell the truth I often passed it in Old Orchard and never saw anyone in it. Just a birthday party or some other rip off dealy.

I don't mind that the stores are closing but I am certain that you and a few other people who responded actually never bought anything at Ethels which makes your comments even more pitiful.

I kind of liked them. Yes, they were overpriced but the chocolates were good. Were they as good as fine Belgian chocolates? No. I used them for weight control. I love chocolate and it was good enough and expensive enough that I could buy a small box and eat one piece a day and be satisfied; however, I guess the niche market of money consicious dieting lovers of good chocolate isn't enough to keep this place in business:) Vosages is local and they make a good candy!

Uh huh. And what is it that makes you so sure of that?
