The Attorney General should consider prosecution under the 1977 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Banks should be required to obtain a customer's permission each time their personal information is to be released. I would not have authorized a release of my information for the purpose of a stock offering.

it is truly frightening how a lack of control and just plain common sense in a single instance can jeopardize the well-being of millions of unsuspecting depositors.

why was the bank of lame-brain, mellon-head involved in this at all? why did they need ssns and acct numbers for a peoples stock offering. which outfit is the biggest idiot here?

this is more shoddy business practice from the aholes at peoples, with which i and many others have severed ties long ago, thankfully. a few more stunts like this and there will be no more peoples, united or otherwise.

I called my local branch to complain that People's United should be aggressively reaching out to their customers. Why isn't there any information posted on the People's Website? Why are they letting the same third party that screwed up, handle it? People's United should be handling it! Definitely time for a new bank.

I was told by a Mr. King at People's that if you did not vote on the stock options or buy any of the stock options, that your information should not be on that tape. HOWEVER, I still do not feel comfortable that my information is not "out there". I still cannot believe that People's United has not posted a single comment or alert on their website for their customers. This is just POOR, customer service. Bye Bye People's.

HELLO?!?!?..did anyone read that it was NOT People's fault. NYB mellon is at fault and they were the ones that took so long to notify People's and their customers...all the information on that tape was encrypted..as it should be..so if you want to place blame...blame NYB Mellon...People's followed procedure..and was not the only bank affected... GET FACTS BEFORE YOU PLACE BLAME and cry you're going to change banks.

Dear 'bank employee'- HELLO BACK!!!! I understand the fault of the problem lies with NYB Mellon BUT Peoples United also has a responsibility to their customers to reach out and inform them as well. I should not have to hear about this incident from the media - I should hear about it from Peoples United. AND contrary to your comment, the tape was NOT encrypted. Peoples United should be more careful with how their third party vendors handle the information. I have the facts and I think I still want to change banks. FYI - I work in the financial industry as well.

This is really getting old. My information has been compromised by TJMaxx, State of CT and now People's. You think somebody would learn from these mistakes.
