Hasn't the bank heard about warm start backup generators? They've only been around for 30+ years!

Funny that almost all of the comments supporting USB are from Minneapolis! I am in Seattle and still have no access to my accounts. We have a choice of where to bank here in WA state and I can guarantee that many of us wont be choosing this midwestern, home-grown bank again!

It's called a check register. I know it's not that new technology that you kids think is all of the rage right now, but it's a pretty useful tool to know your balances IF you can do basic math or use a calculator.
It sucks that you may have to be responsible and keep track of your account on your own, but then you'd know how much money you actually have to spend on your video games and Starbucks.
No, what sucks is my direct deposit pay check from MINNESOTA has yet to post as of 2am Thursday! No calculator or check register will help THAT....

Affected the institutional side of the business to (billions and billions $), this is not an excusable event; this is what firms have disaster recovery plans. Backup systems should be able to handle exactly this sort of thing.

Back up computers aren't any good WITHOUT power, are they?
Since you are obviously not an IT professional, I'll refrain from getting too technical.

1. Back-up servers/computers are stored at A DIFFERENT site in most cases.

2. Those backups usually use POE technology which does come from a normal power source. Most large organizations also have generators that provide 24 hours of continuous power IN CASE of a power outage.

3. Most likely, their access control and surveillance/security runs through that office as well. Now do you think that those were also down leaving the banks exposed or do you think there was a back-up for those?????

Upgrade the technology. There just isn't any excuse.

I'm in Los Angeles, CA and I did not receive my direct deposit this morning (Aug 5). I called my employer and they have record that it sent. So, I called US Bank and received the same response other people did: "They are not sure when this will be fixed, probably by tomorrow...(Aug 6)." I dropped off a rent check last night, knowing I get paid today, and if that check bounces I am going to be really angry. They assured me it won't, but I have no faith in US Bank.
Good luck to everyone.

C'mon, power outages make the lights go out in houses...not huge corporations. Sounds like some BS being fed to the public. What kind of company doesn't have battery backup, a generator or secondary datacenter for Gods sake. The old dead wood running the place either thinks we're idiots or they are still operating in the year 1910.

I'm in Idaho and there are thousands of us here who have not received there employee deposit either. This was suppose to have been fixed Tuesday? If my power went out and I couldn't make it to the bank on time, they would give a you know what.

I had almost $4,000.00 in deposits removed from my account on Tuesday evening. They said it was supposed to be handled and all accounts up to date by yesterday afternoon. As of this morning my account is still drained. Oddly enough they are able to process debits made before and after the outage. Just not deposits. I have my wedding in one week and many last minute bills due on final details. I refuse to transfer money from my savings into my checking in fear that will be taken too. The gentleman on the phone was rude and told me any overdraft charges that occur will be my responsibility. As soon as I see my deposits I am taking all my money and switching banks.
Im now broke
