I have a question I hope someone can answer, who's vehicle was he operating at the time? was he insured? I just can't see a guy on parole with a serious drug problem stealing to support it afford an SUV, car insurance and gas to say the least. I think the owner of the vehicle he gave a drugged driver permission to operate should be held not only civily responsible but criminally also.

Should the police officer just sit in his car and not try to catch a criminal with stolen goods and DUI? Give the cop a break!!!! He was just doing his job! You'd bitch if he did just sit there!
should the cop persue the criminal to the point of endangering innocents? i don't know, but the cops FIRST duty is to ensure safety of the public. "to PROTECT and serve"
it's hard to let the bad guy "get away" but it seems that it will be EXTREMELY hard for fatherless children. sure it was the bad guy who actually hit the other car, but he would not have driven so carelessly--high or not-- if he was not being persued by the cop.
can't law enforcement come up with a better way to accomplish both goals?--get the bad guy without such a terrible cost to the very public they are supposed to serve.
i would like to think they work for us and must do what's right for us first and foremost.

I'd like to see some of these cop haters try and survive with no cops around just for one day - total fuckingass madness. Thumbs up you guys.<quoted text>
i would LOVE that scenario. of course you would find a trail of the dead leading to and or from my doorstep. where they may be many types of crime i would have only one punishment, delivered from a 12 gauge. seriously, if it was total "madness" how many people do you think would be breaking the law?
in texas (where it is easy and common for citizens to own and posses a handgun) i always heard that people never displayed road rage to oneanother because they never knew if the other guy had his handgun with him in the car or not.
you can behave very nice in "tough" situations if it may mean your life.

It's horrible. I only found out friday afternoon. I sort of know these people and the family is nice. You can't say it's the cop's fault because how would he know? He couldn't have known ahead of time that this was goin to happen or else he would have stopped it. I salute NY's officers and thank them for what they do.

RIP Scott Foster

No maybe this dirtbag need to get control of his drug use and his burglaries!!

If you see this right, no police vehicle collided with anything. This was the actions of a felon, not the cops.

it was only a matter of time for john. its a shame somebody had to die before he will be spending hard time in prison. john is the epitomy of the scum of the earth. he should be convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. everytime he made a few bucks he was back on the crack. maybe his parole officer should have been more stringent with him and this would have never happened. you can not blame the police for chasing someone who broke the law. especially a repeat offender. i feel horrible for the family that lost there son. i truly hope john gets life in prison like he deserves! the state has already wasted enough money on the piece of trash. time to give him the chair!

And you know this, how? The druggie fled off at a high rate of speed BEFORE the cop even got into his car. You think the druggie was going slow down after looking in his rear view mirror and not seeing cop there. You have a drugged out thief running away and all of a sudden, because some cop isn't persuing him he's now going to obey the speed limit and stop at red lights? Were you born that naive or did your parents teach you?

No one runs if they were not being chased? What world do you live in. This was not an active pursuit. This was a bad guy fleeing the police. The police car was a good distance away from the bad guy when the bad guy ran the red light crashing into the victim. No one runs if they are not being chased. OHH look I dont see cop car ill just slow down stop at the signs red lights roll down the windows turn on the tunes maybe stop from some coffee... Yea right...

If the cop didnt get in the car to follow n John seen the cop wasnt around yea I think he would of slowed down. I know john and hes not as bad as u think. Yes he has problems and yes he needs help. His family has been telling him to get help. He didnt want to go back to jail. I have a good idea why he went back to the drugs worse then ever but that I will not say at the moment. For as long as I have known him he has had that truck. It just might of been in a diff name who knows. he was off the drugs for a lil bit until a few months ago he would have a 3 day binge and then he would be good but certain things happend in his life that he couldnt control and couldnt handle and that is why he was acting crazy lately. He should b punished for what he did but not like everyone wants him to be. He needs help really bad and he deserves it.

This is what happens when you live in a place like Riverhead, Mastic, Shirly, Commack, Lindenhurst, Copiague, Amityville. These places are the Ghetto white trash of Long Island.

So you were born that way. Too bad your parents didn't teach you better.

He sped off hitting the cop with his door. The cop wasn't even in his cruiser when he SPED off. He didn't want to go to jail, the cop was going to arrest him, so he is just going to go slowly down the block????

And who would you blame if the cop didn't try and apprehend him and he drove back to Riverhead and got in an accident that killed someone else and it came out that the cop had a chance to arrest him and didn't?

PS
I'm not a cop. But thanks for playing.

john has been a crack head since he turned 30 years old. the piece of trash is how old now? he is nothing more than a drug addict and a thief. now he has added murder to the list. the piece of trash deserves to rot away in prison. the state does not need to waste anymore money on his sorry ass trying to rehabilitate the loser. if he and those like him were to disappear he would be doing society a huge favor.
