"There's no serious economist out there that would suggest that, if you took the Republican agenda of slashing education further, slashing Medicare further, slashing research and development further, slashing investments in infrastructure further, that that would reverse some of these trends of inequality."

First, when were these budgets "slashed"?

And second, if the were never "slashed" how could the be "further" slashed?

It's not Obamas fault. These problems started along time ago.

Pre-2008 levels? Oh yeah... that's the year before Obama blew out the budget with his alleged "stimulus" plan. So now you wanna compare a bloated budget to the 'real' world?

Regardless, Obama's playing another blame game. There has been no budget for 4 years, so pinning 'cuts' on Republicans is just another of his political tactics.

It's a clear fact, you are free to look it up, but spending is down, that isn't the same as no debt or no deficit, putting your fingers in your ears and singing "nah nah nah" and pretending that there hasn't been spending cuts doesn't make it true.

And you do know that stimulus is a one time spending measure right?

As for the Budget, it's congress's job and stated clearly in the constitution, to pass budgets, it's the presidents job to submit them. Which he has done, is it the president's fault that congress won't do their jobs in passing laws?

If one's 'income' depends on GETTING it from the government, then it really IS TIME TO cut the budget!!!!

People need to STOP TAKING from the government and get a REAL JOB.

Budget cuts MUST BE MADE for the salvation of the entire country!!($16.5 TRILLION in debt and GROWING).

Where do you get your facts?
I got mine from the Fed Government; the fact is that spending continues to increase.

Dajoke has a point, but you have look at it progressively. Yes spending is down. Here's how it worked (in little numbers). The government planned to spend $1000 in 2013 which was $500 MORE than they spent in 2012 but they only spent $495 MORE, so we progressively CUT spending. It could only have been accomplished with Obama's leadership.

Obama expect the defeat of the GOP spineless RINOs who will fail to stop his Obama care from getting acceleration and destroying US economy while sacrificing tens of millions elderly to die with no health care. GOP will cease to be a RINOs party if the spineless cowards led by Boehner, Cantor, McCain and Graham will fail to fulfill their vow to protect the American constitution that is trashed by Obama on a daily basis. Obama is pushing for socialism in America and buy votes of the foreign illegal invaders with free Obamacare to the sick and poor of the world paid by the hard working conservative fools. Obama knows that buying votes will destroy the GOP for once and for all and make him the dictator of liberal socialistic America faster than any other way. Obama-care could push American healthcare over the cliff to become dysfunctional. After his defeat by the axis of evil led by Russia-I(ran-North Korea-Syria-Hezbollah and his failure to get support from NATO, EU and the Arab League or from the Republicans, Democrats and the American people, Obama has nothing else to do but blaming the GOP for trying to save America from destruction of the medical health system that will leave millions of elderly, sick and children with no doctors, no hospitals and no medication leading to major medical disaster. Will the spineless cowards leaders of the GOP McCain, Boehner and McConnell try to help the defeated Obama gain victories over the GOP by pushing his IRS henchmen control over the private life of every American and pushing America to medical anarchy with million American dying from lack of medical care?

No you get yours from a third party site. I can't help but expect an apology from you to every person that viewed your post. Clearly you are insulting their intelligence by posting a web link that ends in .com which is designate for private ownership as oppose to a .gov site, which is the designated ending to all government run sites.

You are too stupid to lie, you should stop.

The gap widening was simply Obamacare. Businesses reacted to the mandates by cutting work hrs. I think that if you check the record, on the announcement of passage of Obamacare, full-time employment decreased.

And what site/evidence have your provided?

None.

Regardless, you've given a ridiculous argument.

from the site:

How We Got the Data for usgovernmentspending.com
THE government spending tables on this site aggregate all government spending in the United States of America by fiscal year organized by government function.
Most of the data is actual government spending as reported by the Office of Management and Budget or the United States Census Bureau....

Data Sources
The government spending information is obtained from several sources of data.

Federal spending since 1962 is obtained from a spreadsheet file Table 3.2 - Outlays by Function and Subfunction in Budget of the United States Government published by the Executive Office of the President of the United States. It contains actual historical federal government spending from 1962 to the fiscal year ending before the current budget, and budgeted and estimated spending the current fiscal year and out five years.

They give links to their data sources.

And you give what?

Insults.

Read. Learn. And quit being a jerk.
