BETTER GET A QUOTE FIRST!!
The accountant I had been using for the last 15 years had retired so I asked a few friends where they have their taxes done. One of them swore by HRB. So I made the appointment and brought with me my last three years returns as they requested. After filling in all the blanks for what was the simplist return...car tax, mortgage interest, and w2's, we had to pay HRB $319!! My old accountant charged us $140. I asked the friend who recommended HRB to us what he normally paid wgen he went and he had paid $245 that same day. I really don't understand why we had to pay $80 more for the same service. Oh, and they never even bothered to look at the past three returns we brought with us-as they instructed. Perhaps they would have for an additional charge. I am very disappointed and would never recommend HRB.

Thank you very much TURBO TAX for making my tax returned nearly as twice what I had for the last couple years with H&B assistant...I have 3 children and H&B did not apply my children credit which nearly $3000...I got smart this year and start reading reviews...I am very disappointed with H&B I paid them nearly $400 last year... this year with turbo tax $19.99 that's more food for my children and their school expenses...my advice to everyone go to TURBO TAX they rock!!!!

Personally I. See all these people writting bad things about hr block n I think they r just mad its not hr blocks fault if something happens to ur taxes because of your mistakes I love hr block and the service I get there every year and the willingness and patience they have for all my questions and concerns and they have always gotten me as much as they can I will always do my taxes there:-) the only thing is I use the emerald card nd I feel like it takes way to long for them to process my money into my account which would be the only complaint I have. But I love the service n I have never met one negative or mean person there :-) so thank u hr block for helping me out every year :-)

Good for you then. But my issue was that they lied to me four times. And then called me a liar rather than own up to those lies. I paid $450. I do not appreciate being lied to. That was the last time I have ever used them. But each person has their own experience. If customer service had treated me better, I would have stayed. C.S defines a company and theirs is piss poor when the fault lies with them.

H & R Block is a RIP OFF!! I did my cousins taxes after H&R Block told her that her return was only 84.00!!! I did her taxes using TURBO TAX an and entered all her info from BOTH her W-2's and she got over 5000.00!! She is a widower and she still gets money from her husbands retirement, I asked about seeing her last year taxes and I see where they only used ONE of her W-2's from last year instead of BOTH!! I'm in the process of amending her returns from last year!! I must say that she is part the blame because you should ALWAYS go over your paperwork before letting someone submit it!!

Horrible, I wish I didn't go there.
they told me I will get around 500$ back and told me to pay them 30 .
I ended up paying them 86 $ and I got 64$.
they literally stole my money.

Don't use this service they over charge for there services I had 1 we and they charge 200 for e file stating you will get your money back sooner .so I have a friend who filed the same way with a different company and only paid 50 and got the money a week sooner....do your self a favor and don't use H&r block unless you want to give your money a way.

I was astounded by the lack of informative assistance and overall lack of customer service by this company. My wife and I could easily have done taxes ourselves if all you need are prompted steps via computer screen. Will not make that mistake again. And to the McGee fellow, you sir should be ashamed of the way you deal with disgruntled customers. As a representative of hnr block you should spend less time denoting the intelligence of the customer and more time finding the roots of their frustrations. Quite simply, the latter seems clearly beyond you. Not even children should behave as you have. That alone is a firm among many reasons I shant return next year

H&R sucks. don't use that. Go to turbo tax, what they charge will make you mad. I played $200 for 2013 tax return, something that turbo tax can do for $20.

And when you complain using the review, they say it doesn't follow their guidelines.

Don't go to H&R block. The commercial's are a sham. Not to mention the place I went to smelled funny and everybody there looked like they were crack heads. I was told my wife and owed $1100. I told took my info and went elsewhere. On TaxAct I got the amount down to less than $1000 and that was without even using my education expenses or the money I lost in the stock market. I took my info to my local CPA and expect to have to pay even less.
They don't try to get you every penny. They just fill in fields on there application based on your W-2 anybody that can read can do that.
A friend of mine thought she was getting too much back when TurboTax said she's get a $4000 refund, so she took it to H&R block to be safe and she got $2000 less back, even had to go behind the desk to help the lady with the application, and got charged $130.

Don't go to H&R block. do it yourself online or find a local CPA.

H&R is real joke .. The people working there know nothing about filling tax ... I paid them $300 and then I have to go through the IRS publications to fix the errors that they did .. I don't know , how they get their license ..

I went to H & R block last year and had my taxes filed out perfectly fine and everything we well, I only paid $40 since I had 2 forms to fill out. This year is another story. I went in today to get my taxes done and I had only again 2 W-2 forms to fill out, nothing hard, I also have no assets or anyone I am claiming. I am just a full time college student with a part time job. I made the appointment earlier at 12, I came 5 minutes early and I sat down and waited, I thought it wouldn't take long before my turn came WRONG! i I had to wait over 30 minutes since the lady was too busy with other customers and didn't even bother to acknowledge me. This was after the front desk lady told her several times her appointment had arrived. Then my turn came and she was just plain rude to me and acted like I was supposed to know everything there is about taxes and what not. She started talking about penalties and all sorts of tax related stuff about my forms. Then when she showed me my return I was not happy because it was pretty much nothing I was getting back from IRS and on top of that she said I owed her $229 for filing out my tax forms since my forms were "longer" this year than last year and the prices of the company had gone up. I couldn't believe that! what a scam and rip off! I barely make money as a college student working part time and this lady was trying to scam over $200 out of me! I told her that I wasn't going to pay her that much and I would take my business elsewhere and she didn't like that and got all rude with me and then she said bye to me and turned her chair around and she went back to working on other things. NEVER again will I go to this company nothing but a bunch of scammers who have no idea what is going on.

Please please do not choose H& R block for filing tax. I have never ever write any review and comments to anywhere but this time I have to write to let others know that these people are literally not up to date with tax laws. I filed myself and got good return last year but this year I stop by to their office and these people don't know unless you tell then. They charge $180 for less return. What the heck !!

Ironically!! this guy was surprised and saying W2 form is wrong that doesn't have social security and medicare withholding. Then I have to tell him that Students are exemption!

As much as I regret to go there! I would you you guys do not go there

I used out local office to have my taxes done. Never again... they charged my account double what I signed for on my credit card statement and then blamed the credit card company. Meanwhile, I have to spend a whole day calling people who don't care and refer me to the next person in line while trying to fix the problem. Guess who gets to pay my overdraft fees because of it...you got it! ME. DO NOT RECOMMEND
