Also, why does walgreens always cite the losses from Storm Sandy? Didn't Sandy affect CVS and Rite Aid too?

The impact to other retailers has no bearing on whether the company should disclose its expenses/losses for this event to shareholders/prospective investors.

Yes, of course. I don't think I phrased my question correctly. Didn't Sandy affect CVS and Rite Aid as well? After all, both are hyping their stronger-than-usual profits. Rite Aid posted its first profit in years!(Actually, not sure how much Sandy affected Rite Aid stores, as they're in limited areas.) Just wondering if Wag is placing a little too much blame in certain areas to take the focus off of the ESI impact.
That was my first guess.

Walgreens is doing great right now! Stock closed at over $38 yesterday. Analysts say we're doing well.

I suggest not seeking financial knowledge from a forum of disgruntled low level employees.

The last item before filing for bankruptcy is cutting labor hours in stores.

It's the last big item corporate can control in a recessive economy and being able to pay a poverty wage for an employee doing 3 middle class jobs!
