Some Hawaiians say they will go back to tahiti where they immigrated from. But I hope most stay.

If it wasnt for America, you'd still be climbing trees for your dinner.. and paying to Tiki Gods. The best thing to ever happen to your land was America..dont think so? lets see what happens the first time a huge storm nails Hawaii..who will be first on your call list? The American Tax Payer.

Climbing trees for dinner? Ever hear of the ocean, you know, fish and thousands of other delicious critters to be harvested by the sea? You're pretty certain they needed to be overthrown and incorporated by the US Marines, huh? That's a pretty pompous attitude don't you think? What gives us the right to march into someone else's house and declare it our own? This is just another sad story in the long legacy of the US annexing whatever territories it deems as "ours." You should shuffle your mental cards, not everyone wants or needs to be taken over by the US. That's an imperialist mindset if I've ever heard one. |

Hawaiians always say how ashamed they are of their culture and lack of contributions to the world. But I say every culture should have a place in hawaii. let them stay!

Imperialist mindset? So it's okay for ILLEGALS to try to take over this country that does NOT belong to them. But the US is imperialist. Where'd you get your logic? From the worm in a tequila bottle?

Hawaiians are not at all indigenous as they immigrated here only hundreds of years ago. But i still respect their food and aloha.

Are illegals invading Washington and taking over our White House by force? Don't be silly They're coming here to work. I'm not condoning illegal immigration, but to compare it to the overthrow of our government is more than a stretch. I think you're up past your bedtime DBS, time for a story and a good night's rest. |

Wrong again midclown. I was filing tax returns when you were still in diapers. Mind your place sonny boy.

I would not say that Hawaiians were illegal immigrants. But the Marquesans who go here before them did pay a heavy price-ethnic cleansing and genocide-for allowing them in. It, in addition to the institution of hawaiian slavery, which appall so many. Claims of a special virtue from these confused people is ludicrous and embarrassing given the actual historical record. It is best to be honest about it all.

Midtown does not the history of Hawaii. Kamehameha begged Westerners to trade with him and offered wives and money for their goods. Asians were begged to come to hawaii to work on pantations by Kalakaua. Nobody forced their way into this hell hole. They were begged to come and some did. That is what is most detestable about the sovereignty crew. They know the truth and don't speak it. That is a sin.

Baxter...this group represents the clowns in the "movement." They come up with new kings and queens for us to bow down to every 4 minutes. Trouble is, their movement reveals why the kingdom was "lost" in the first place.

Native Americans use "Blood Quantum" in their
membership. It's by their decisions and varies tribe to tribe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_quantum_la... |

Rebels without a cause really. Most are followers and don't think for themselves. They just listen to one half breed hawaiian and follow.
This is what low or no education does. |

I don't know enough about the various
Hawaiian groups to support them all. I do support efforts to stop exploitation of the culture that has already benefited thousands of people for decades. You've heard it time and again, Hawaiians didn't fair well with other systems imposed during the introduction of the Western ways. Prisons and a ill health attest to that. Discrimination prior to the 60's kept the Hawaiian people on the lower rungs. Yes, discrimination in hiring for all who never witnessed or read about it on the mainland. I do feel they are in a period where there IS enough education to curb that previous downward spiral. The Akaka Bill will pass. I hope there won't be too much infighting to hinder progress. I hope the younger generation of Hawaiian (part-Hawaiian) youth will not be knee-jerk hostile and learn the contributions of other minority groups that contributed to having them arrive at this point in their history. Oh yes...and that youthful group be educated about Blacks & Haoles who have been passionate to the death in their beliefs to help right wrongs. Those sacrifices benefited everyone.
