I hope they nab the restaurants that substitute Pepsi for Coke next.

If Red Bull is going to those tactics, the bar owners should just stop serving the drink, they don't have to offer it....

Isn't this like if you order a rum and coke, and they give you a rum and pepsi or some other cola? Jeez Red Bull, get over yourself.

Hopefully these bars will all get together and boycott RedBull. All they have to do is tell people they don't carry Redbull, but have another energy drink. People will still drink it. I hope RedBull goes under.

Perhaps its time to launch a class action suit against Redbull for false advertising too! They claim that, "Redbull gives you wings"! Has anyone actually ever witnessed that? Can they prove it? I think not! I'm filing my suit today!

I'm in. I even tried to fly after drinking Red Bull once, and I want them to pay for my medical bills now, too. Let's not even get into the mental anguish I suffered when I realised that, in fact, I could not fly after being told I could.

This makes sense - you go to the bar and order Absolut or Grey Goose, you don't want Smirnoff and pay the price of Absolut or Grey Goose. Most likely they were charging patrons the cost of Red Bull, and totally taking in the profits.

Back in the days of being a bartender I heard there were bars that served RB from a gun - always thought they were urban legends - guess not.

haha I cant believe this. Kleenex vs Tissue. Love it.
All these clubs / bars have to do is stop carrying their overpriced drink. Like someone said earlier, they will drink whatever energy drink available.. plus the clubs / bars will get better distribution deals from up and coming energy drink companies.
Go visit Scottsdale, no club carries Redbull.

Never tried the stuff and don't want to. Get us addicted to caffeine and high fructose corn syrup. Why does anyone waste their money on this stuff? Work out, get healthy and eat healthy and you won't need this crap. Guess who is getting rich too?

I manage a bar that sells Roaring Lion, and it isn't a cheap knock off. It has all the same ingredients...but is made in America!

We stopped selling Red Bull because of the price and how big of jerks the people that work for them are. In this economy more bars will continue to follow suit.

When someone asks for a Red Bull, we tell them "We have Roaring Lion. It is better. Do you want to try it?"

I'm on Red Bull's side. If a bar doesn't want to pay for Red Bull then don't make false claims about serving it. Red Bull is a business that has every right to protect its image even if people don't think is such a big deal for bars to lie to customers. Also, if customers realized they were getting a less expensive substituted for Red Bull they may not buy the drink in the first place. Therefore, bars that lie about using Red Bull are using deceptive practices that could potentially cut into Red Bull's profits.

Hey Tribune, fix your headline!

Roaring Lion isn't a "Red Bull Substitute". It is a competitor that obviously has Red Bull worried enough to sue people.

What a great customer relations policy.

Roaring Lion is a substitute (which is a product introduced by former Red Bull employees), which is why a court ruled in Red Bull's favor 4 times in the last 12 months. If a bar claims Red Bull but it isn't, then it's a substitute.

You are absolutely right...if I am going to pay around $7 for a mix drink and you give me something cheaper similar to it...but taking the profit for it, it's just not ethical! Plus false advertisement, just like many bars that water down their liquor so it lasts longer. So I am glad red bull is suing, after all as the consumers these bars are pretty much saying their customers are dumb because regardless of what we get we will be drinking it and paying the price.

It's about time. I'm sick of shady club and bar owners getting away with murder. If I ask for something I should be served it, and if you don't have it, tell me. It's like walking in to a restaurant and ordering a Coke, if they don't serve it by law they have to ask if Pepsi's OK. This should be no different.
