Where did I ever say profit was a bad thing? In fact I've made thousands off their profits.

I just want them to pay their fair share of taxes to support the country which supports them.

Oil companys and oil exploration stocks have experenced some of the most robust gains in profit of almost any stock offered on Wall Street. Go ahead an look it up...
Then justify giving money away there at a time when everything else from domestic to militar is on the chopping block....These tax breaks are nothing more than welfare for oil companies .

<quoted text>I'd settle for some of Obaba's green energy boondoggles to actually succeed too but that ain't happening..... We're up to how many taxpayer funded failures by his political cronies? seven at last count was it? To the tune of how many millions, billions? You're whining about a proven industry/energy source that generates revenue, while ignoring the corruption festering in Obama's speculation with taxpayers $$$ in an industry that produces failures. Somehow I find that typically liberal.
Of course you conveniently ignore the many green energy successes the taxpayers have supported and instead focus on a few high profile failures.

How many oil companies went bust when they were first starting up in the 1800's?

Do you really think Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company would have been successful without government collusion overlooking the MASSIVE pollution & environmental destruction, along with looking the other way on anti-trust issues?

Green energy is the future, but just like the early oil & gas industry it will go through growing pains; especially considering the environmental & anti-trust regulations in place today which didn't exist when oil & gas companies were raping the planet on there way to a defacto government protected monopoly on energy production.

2011, ExxonMobil’s U.S. tax expenses totaled more than $1 billion a month on average. That’s more than $12 billion in U.S. taxes in 2011 at all levels – local, state and federal – and of all types – income taxes, property taxes, sales-based taxes, excise taxes and more.
Much of that profit went into exploration, and their business costs 47 million an hour!! So you can drive your car to your protest meetings..(chuckle)
GE....owned by George Soros...big nobama backer paid NO taxes last year....or the year before..
Get back to us on that one, would you?
So they supposedly paid $12 billion in taxes overall in 2011, but their federal income tax was less than 20% when the corporate rate is 35%. Even if you include all $12 billion they supposedly paid in taxes, their profit that year was still over $40 billion; that's only a 30% tax rate when the corporate tax rate is supposedly 35%.

GE needs to pony up their 35% as well.

it's how our country works, bozo.
And people are supposed to pay taxes on those profits at the rates established by law.

Answer the question, genius!! How do ranchers, farmers, chicken growers, etc. grow our food without fuel?? Tractors, trucks, heating, deliveries..........
You said they could do without fuel or healthcare....they've been providing healthcare for their employees for 75 years...long before nobama was "chooming" while in college.
Farmers can produce our food the same way they did for thousands of years before fuel & tractors were invented.

Are you really that ignorant of history?

Many places around the world still produce food without using tractors or other machinery.

They BUY healthcare for their employees, they don't provide it.

I can live without buying their oil. Can they live without buying food & healthcare from someone else?

Green energy is a startup, dumbass, not an established and incredibly profitable industry. That's why the government helps, that and the fact that it will be the wave of the future.

That confuses Cons, I know...:)

Wingnuts love to cite Alinsky, even though most of them have never read him. Neither have most libs, including myself. And yet somehow "lib arguments" are always "out of Alinsky's playbook," whatever that is.

The three words you throw out describe the methods of 80% of the righties on Topix, so if those are Alinsky's, you guys must be the ones reading him...:)

Providing food for a village in Africa is a helluva lot different than providing food for 100 million city ghetto dwellers who don't work..screwball. Are you really that ignorant...period??

The big food prodeucers of the world such as USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Argentian, etc. must have the fuel. Maybe you can grow bussell sprouts in your plot but many can't.

Obama wants it done with private enterprise too, but that probably slipped your notice somehow. Making loans or grants to startups is something business loves, only ideological righties pretend to hate it.

The USPS would be just fine if Repubbies didn't impose special rules on the financing of their retirement healthcare, dummy. Look it up.
