Topix.com is Another Example That Civility Is Dead

There are 567 comments on the bigfatmarketingblog.com story from Mar 26, 2010, titled Topix.com is Another Example That Civility Is Dead . In it, bigfatmarketingblog.com reports that:

Don’t go with Topix.com. It’s a cesspool for bottom-feeding Internet trolls who have nothing better to do but cowardly hide behind aliases and leave racist, homophobic, libelous, slanderous, tasteless, classless and downright rude comments on every article it attaches itself to. And apparently the publications that use Topix.com do not have the ability to remove those comments, no mater how much its reputation can be damaged.

Topix.com sunk to a new low this week, giving consumers to self-serve privilege to remove racist, homophobic, libelous, slanderous, tasteless, classless and downright rude comments left about them… for a $19.95 fee. That’s just as disgusting as the trolls who have helped spearhead the death of civility on the Internet.

Well the attorneys general of Connecticut and Kentucky are looking into this. But Topix.com CEO Chris Tolles says the attorneys general are “grandstanding.”

He can say anything he wants, do anything he wants, screw up as much as he wants. He knows all he has to do is spout the consistent line of BS he's always spouted, collect his $400K, maybe $800K if enough morons believe him, and retire from office.

He can then point to the next administration and say 'see what a mess their making?' because Obama's crap doesn't kick in for at least 4 years. So far, he's been doing exactly that about the previous administration.

It's all political psy-ops.

I think topix is a great place for debate and hate....I mean come on it's a wonderful place to stop by and vent. Really they should change the name to VENT.com . I don't take much of what ppl say seriously because things said here usually won't be said anywhere but here...Most of the beliefs run across I hope will die with the ignorant ppl who post them.
They should require user accounts, three innapropriate posts- boot 'em off.
I believe there are people who come here to vent while taking advantage of anonymity. They say what they can't in person. I know a young poster with a foul mouth but when he was in webcam,I found out that he is actually a low tone cool person who don't even say a bad word.

Holy awk, Obama. This is all about Election 2010; and it is getting sticky for Democrats. Suspicions of bribery usually cause a backlash at the voter's booths. There is just no way to make this bribery scandal go away unless Joe Sestak throws himself under the Obama bus (it's getting crowded under there) by saying he was flat-out lying or all muddled and confused -- or the White House could come clean, the way another Democrat, Weiner, suggests.

Joe Sestak keeps to his claims that he was offered a job in exchange for dropping his bid against Specter's seat and keeps tossing the ball right back to the White House's court. White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, who has a difficult time deflecting difficult questions without stammering and stuttering, continues to - stammer and stutter. Most Americans and Republicans, are ready to haul Sestak into a position where he is forced to tell it all - especially if it is as incriminating as it appears it may be.

Hey guys,
Point of clarification. There is and has always been a free feedback system on Topix.(All you have to do is click the Feedback link on the bottom of any Topix page.) In ADDITION to that, due to user demand, we added an option for expedited review for users that didn't want to wait for the normal feedback. That wait is usually between 3-7 days. That's pretty awesome for a site our size. Try comparing that around the magical interwebs.
We receive thousands upon thousands of free feedback requests every month. We routinely remove content based on those pieces of feedback.
Quite simply, anyone claiming that you need to pay to have content removed is completely mistaken.

This year marks the 48th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court decision that legally ended segregation in schools, thus mandating that minorities be afforded equal access to public education. But since that landmark decision, have our children received the kind of rigorous education necessary to attend college, compete in today's job market, and achieve economic success? Well, consider these facts:

According to the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP), 63% of black fourth graders read below grade level, compared with 27% of white children. Even Hispanic and Asian fourth graders have better reading scores than black children, although English is their second language.

This year, the NAACP threatened to file suit against 22 states for refusing to address racial disparities in the nation's public schools, including overrepresentation of minorities in special education programs and underrepresentation in programs for gifted and talented students.

The New York State Supreme Court ruled this year that New York is only required to provide public school students--who are mostly black and brown--with an eighth grade education, which according to the judge is all a child needs to know in order to serve on a jury, vote and find a job.
