Inventors and Inventions from France, About 40 of these. Also, I am French and Mexican (born in the USA --your worse nightmare) apparently those amoung you whose bigotry is most evident hate both of these groups. You might consider just how ignorant you appear when lumping entire groups/races together as targets of your ignorance and bigotry. ---------- Ambroise Paré(1510-1590): surgical instruments Blaise Pascal: mechanical calculator (1642) Metric system, proposed by Gabriel Mouton in 1670, worked out by the French Academy of Sciences in 1790 Nicolas Joseph Cugnot: steam-driven car (1769) George Louis Lesage used a single wire system to telegraph a message (1774) Joseph M.Jacquard - first industrially applicable automatic loom (late 18th century) Montgolfier (Joseph and Etienne): the hot-air balloon (1783) Louis Lenormand: the parachute (1783) Jean Baptiste Meusnier: lighter-than-air dirigible developed (1785) Claude Chappe: optical system telegraph (1791) Nicolas Appert - invented our canning process involving bactericide by boiling (1810) René T.H. Laennec - invented the stethoscope (1816) Joseph L. Gay-Lussac (1778-1850), chemist: the hydrometer and alcoholometer Jean-François Champollion - first deciphered the Rosetta Stone(1822) Louis Braille: printed language for the blind (1829) Joseph N.Niepce: the principle of the photographic process (1826) Xavier Progin (1833): a machine that used separate typebars for each letter or symbol that were activated by separate lever keys (forerunner of typewriter) Daguerre, Louis J. improved and patented photographic process (1839) French physicist Jean Foucault: the gyroscope (1852) Henri Deville: invented electrolysis to refine aluminum from bauxite (1852) Henri Giffard, engineer: first successful steam-powered steerable airship (1852) Edouard-Léon Scott de Martinville: Phonautographe:1st machine to record sound (1857), with no playback Raymond Gaston Planté: the lead-acid battery (1860) Rouquayrol and Denayrouse: hard-hat deep-sea diving (1865) Pierre Lallement: rotary-pedal bicycle (1865) Frères Michaux: steam-driven bicycle (1868) Chemist Mège Mouriés: margarine (1869) Charles Cros (& Edison) simultaneously invented the phonograph (1877) Lumière brothers: first movie camera (1895) René Panhard & Emile Levassor: prototype for modern car (front engine, pedal clutch, 4 wheels, etc.- 1895) Jean J.E. OK, i've been gone for a while. When did this turn into France bashing? I am curious about the proof of the danger of wi-fi EM. What peer reviewed journals are these studies published in?

I'm one of the people who has fallen ill from this technology, and you can laugh all you want, but we'll see who's laughing when the honeybees and bats are all gone and humans follow. This is a serious matter - you, too, are being affected by these frequencies whether you realize it or not. Read the Bioinitiative Report and Dr. Lai's research. Wifi, Cell, and Dect cordless phones all bother my son with autism AND have a different frequency than radio etc... I moved to a rural town and he is doing much better and does not need a 1:1 aide anymore, even has an 88 average now. If cell companies know it I doubt they will change things unless they can make money... hmm perhaps they CAN change the frequency and make a heap!

I developed the symptoms and abnormalities of what is called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) in the UK or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) as it is misleadingly known as in the United States. Interestingly, these symptoms and abnormalities are remarkably identical to what was described by the Russians in the early 1970s as "Microwave Sickness" and more recently by those living in the vicinity of cell-phone towers as "Microwave Syndrome." What are they?(1) Excessive thirst,(2) night sweats,(3) brain fog,(4) swollen lymph glands,(5) fatigue (6) insomnia,(7) a weakened immune system,(8) nausea,(9) heart pain,(10) back pain,(11) unexplained anxiety,(12) neurological symptoms,(13) vision problems (14) testicular pain,(15) loss of appetite,(16) rapid weight loss,(17) frequent urination,(18) dry eyes and mouth,(19) impaired memory,(20) inability to concentrate,(21) body temperature regulation problems ( i.e. chills),(22) bone pain,(23) heart palpitations,(24) intestinal disturbances,(25) skin rashes,(26) increased allergic sensitivities, and so on. Moreover, a number of researchers are finding that after approximately five years they are finding cancer clusters around these towers of death. Certainly, this is discrimination! But is is a lot more than that! It is a serious Crime Against Humanity being knowingly committed by the those in the Wireless Industry driven only by a relentless and senseless greed! This is 2008! Certainly, we should be moving away from Stupidity, Selfishness, and Denial and more towards compassion for other living beings!

I know a number of people, myself included, who are indeed sensitive to electropollution from wifi, cell phones and other electromagnetic fields (EMFs) Our bodies resonate at a particular frequency and those outside invading frequencies impact us whether we are "sensitive" or not. Most people have just never made the association of the cause of their headache or aches and pains. It is a growing concern and needs to be investigated further before it is too late. Just because their is no "scientific" data does not discount the danger to our health. There are shielding options as well.

actually anyone who "suffers" from imaginary radio waves and frequencies, is gentically inferior, its natures way of eliminating the weaker DNA strains.

The thing that bothers me about this issue is that some people are trying to influence public health laws, regulations and policies without a sound scientific basis. Ignorance and pseudo-science are rampant in our society, as illustrated by some of the arguments we have seen questioning global warming or claiming that intelligent design is science instead of religion. But the EMF issue in particular seems to get some people more scared and riled in that it involves "radiation". Arguments are made that any amount of this invisible, colorless, odorless, tasteless "radiation" is bad because it is associated with nuclear bombs, fallout, cancer, genetic mutations and the military industrial complex. However, as others have pointed out in this thread, radio frequencies are less intense than another common form of EM "radiation" that we all know as visible light. EMFs may well pose health hazards, in addition to those we already know of, that are yet undiscovered and unproven by objective scientific methods. But any public health policies regarding EMFs must be based on sound science and not ignorance, paranoia and hype.

And here in right field we have pseudo-science from big oil, big tobacco and the spineless patsies who march in step with them. Very interesting article in the latest issue of EOS, Daniel. If you were interested in hearing what real scientists are publishing about it, I would give you the link. But it seems that you just want to be a mouthpiece for the disinformation put out by big oil. Your pseudo-science is just as bad as the left wing EMF bulloney. Fortunately, you extremists on the left and right don't seem to be having much effect on public policy. Your goofy arguments, however, have high entertainment value in scientific circles, although they do get a wee bit tedious at times.

I really do enjoy our little conversations lobo..tiring as it may be to hear you spout the drivel the media has hyped for 8 years or so...however..have you noticed an alarming trend?...no mention of global warming on the news, or the educational channels...it seems the real scientists are finally geting points across..as more and more "models" fail to produce the results they predicted. I appreciate your links, they are quite informative, however cherry picked and incomplete the data. enjoy your river trip...hope the water isn't too "warm"..hehe

I agree and understand why we should remove wifi from all public buildings. You don't know that the signal won't affect other people. Some people are real sensatvie to it. There should be a government sponserd program that does nothing but research this. It can be paid for through a wifi tax.
