Myrtle Beach has turned itself into a cement jungle. It's become too crowded, too expensive, and too urban to be any fun any more.

let the people go to myrtle beach, they will be really dissapointed if they arent old farts who play golf or weird people who actually enjoy the alabama dinner theater. traffic is worse and what is there about 20 feet of sand? sounds like a great reason to drive 6 extra hours.

I've been to VA Beach (many times). I've never been to Myrtle Beach. But with gas at $3.69 a gallon, I'll be going 60 miles to VA Beach, not 360 miles to Myrtle Beach!

As a person who has been unfairly singled out by law enforcement.It appears that the only thing that seperated my vehicle from other cars that were parked next to me at a parking meter that i put money in, was my Michigan plates. I even had time on the meter when i returned 20 minutes later. I feel that even Ocean City Maryland is a better destination than the VIRGINIA BEACH Resort area. I have visited all of the resort cities along the Atlantic coast, trust me Va.Beach is one of the worst as far as hospitality and quality of available accomadations.

There are pros and cons for every single place on this earth! To each his own! I do agree that it's underhanded for those in Myrtle Beach to make Virginia Beach seem like a poor choice to visit. I have lived in Tidewater all of my life and very proud to say so. I have also traveled to many nice places. I know of military families who have traveled and lived all over the world, including Florida, Hawaii and California and they chose Virginia Beach and surrounding areas to retire or settle down once out of the military. I think sometimes people have a preconceived notion about a particular area (people not friendly, etc.) and tend to hold on to that mindset, only fully recognizing the negative, not the positive, because that's what their looking for. I would not live anywhere else! If you want to visit, welcome and I hope you have a good time!

You know what happened?
Virginia Beach paid the air force off and tried to get them to help them retaliate against Myrtle Beach for that cut-throat ad tactic, but the bomb went off course and went to Florida instead! It's a shame, really.

I think both beaches are terrible. virginia beach is one of the only beach towns in america that does not take care of the locals. all the city worries about is money in their pockets......whatever virginia beach get over your self

Myrtle Beach was right on the money with the ads. Me personnaly I would have run an ad stating - Virginia Beach - Just leave your wallet and get out, this is for locals only.

In the 60's we would go surfing at Virginia Beach and the cops would harass you all day long. Make you move your car 3 ft. Move down the beach 100 yds, even when it was cold and no one was at the beach except surfers. Then we found Sandbridge and Va Beach got greedy with that....To the OBX. 2008 OBX still fun.

MOVING OUT, they harrass the locals too. my hometown is backwards as hell. we need a serious youth movement in Virginia. the oldtimers just don't get it!!

Virginia Beach SUCKS! OBX is too crowded with Virginians and people from the north. The place to go is OIB, NC
