So What?

Obama’s attacks on Bain, private equity firms divisive, disingenuous and a petty distraction from an economy in a "tailspin."

"With the economy continuing to struggle under his watch, President Obama and his campaign have launched attacks on Mitt Romney’s career at the private equity firm, Bain Capital. Given how successful Governor Romney was as both a businessman and a job creator, that’s a hard case to sell. Thus, the Obama campaign has broadened its attack, excoriating private equity as a whole.

These attacks on private equity are important more for what they reveal about the attackers than for what they reveal about private equity. The backlash to this strategy was immediate and came from all sides of the political spectrum, with even high ranking Democrats denouncing the President’s tactics as “nauseating.” When politicians attempt to demean private equity firms for campaign purposes, their attacks – though smacking of desperation — are at least understandable. But to the extent the attackers actually believe what they are saying, it calls into question whether they have even a basic understanding of how private equity works, let alone how our economy actually creates jobs, wealth and prosperity.

President Obama is trying to set private equity up as a bogeyman people should fear. Nothing could be further from the truth. Private equity is an overwhelmingly positive component of our free enterprise system. It generates value for its investors while creating jobs and wealth for a broad spectrum of individuals and entities. Both results are good for the country as a whole; it is good when investors are successful, and good when successful investments create jobs and wealth for other people." Lets talk more about Mitt Romney and Bain Capital,
shall we? It would be refreshing indeed if this president and his staff had a modicum of knowledge of the workings of businesses and economies - perhaps we wouldn't be on the brink of economic disaster......<wink>

After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School he graduated "summa cum laude" from both. he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney.

As a venture-capitalist, Romney's first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.

Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the "BainWay") would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.

Got your calculators handy? Let's recap.

Volunteer campaign worker for his dad's gubernatorial campaign 1 year.

Unpaid intern in Governor's office 8 years.

Mormon missionary in Paris 2 years.

Unpaid bishop and state president for his church 10 years.

No salary as president of the Olympics 3 years.

No salary as MA governor 4 years.

That's a grand total of 28 years of unpaid service to his country, his community and his church. Why? Because that's the kind of man Mitt Romney is!

And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income....Obama gave 1%

Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%

( I think it's interesting that some details are given here about Romney's tax return and about Biden's tax return but no details about Obama's tax return, or all of his SEALED records.. Snopes confirms most of the above.)

Do not mistake this as love for Romney. He is disconnected from the people, claims to be the champion of the working class, yet has no clue what it means to actually BE working class. The list goes on and on.
However, this tactic really is sad. Just because the guy has money it doesn"t mean that he stole it or refused to pay taxes.
We are so screwed.

Don't they drink alcohol and gamble in casinos? Those people have addictions. I wouldn't trust our money with them.

My parents taught me that "nothing is free". Anyway isn't all that service negated by dodging the draft and investing in casinos that exist because of addictions to smoking, drinking, and gambling? Bishop Rmoney might have been born good, but it looks like greed got the better of him as he aged.

“This is done entirely privately,” he said.“One of the downsides of releasing one’s financial information is that this is now all public, but we had never intended our contributions to be known. It’s a very personal thing between ourselves and our commitment to our God and to our church.”

Ann Romney, who joined her husband for the interview, added,“When Mitt and I give that check, I actually cry.”

Romney’s remarks about tithing come after months of criticism that the candidate has refused to release more than two years of tax returns, instead releasing 2010 in full and an estimate for his 2011 returns. A full 2011 tax return is expected later this year.

Up until now, Romney has said that his resistance to make more tax returns public was born out of a concern that Democrats would use them to formulate more opposition research against him. An Associated Press estimate of Romney’s tax returns shows that the Romney’s have gave more than $4 million to their church in 2010 and 2011, and millions more through a family charity.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Bishop is clergy or a businessman. Does he not pay taxes as a high priest of the Mormon Temple? Is he stiffing the Mormon Temple? Why was his father able to disclose over a decade of tax returns. We might have pick a dud as we were so quick to fall in-line. We should have vetted him FIRST. Now we're having another Palin moment..... This was OUR election to LOSE and we're succeeding......

Besides casinos create more prostitution. People sell their bodies because of their gambling and drug addictions and if on rare occasion they win, they will often use the money to hire prostitutes. I have a problem with people who profit from casinos, but that's just me.

Castro hated hard working, successful citizens too. Venezuela's Chavez does the same as Obama too.

Engendering Class Warfare, destroying Business and prompting Hate in the population is job one if you want to destroy a Country and create a Marxists Collectivist nightmare.

Romney has no personal investments in Casinos, his company had loaned money to individuals in the Casino business -- that does not comprise of an investment where the stock holder realizes a dividend.

You mean like Obama -- came from no where, no executive experience, no understanding of economics and Business 101, and with every thing about his past being sealed? The facts is, the only thing that got him elected was that he was black. With that resume, he couldn't have gotten hired as a manager of a 7-11....

You fail to understand that Obama's Failures ARE a Success under the Pelosi Doctrine. A strong America would never surrender to Marxist Collectivism under the death grip of Big Brother/Big Union.

Democrats for Mitt Romney 2012

"President Obama instituted the most anti-growth, anti-investment, anti-jobs measures that we have seen in our lifetime. Now he called his agenda ambitious, I call it reckless."

-Mitt Romney

http://www.youtube.com/user/Democrats4MittRom...

In the end, Reagan proved that good-natured conservatism could win by huge margins. But a lot of credit for the win must go to “Democrats for Reagan.”

Who were they? Well, Wikipedia says:

“They were mostly white, socially conservative blue-collar workers, who lived in the Northeast, and were attracted to Reagan’s social conservatism.

“Stan Greenberg, a respected Democratic pollster, analyzed white, largely unionized auto workers in suburban Macomb County, Mich., just north of Detroit. The county voted 63 percent for John F. Kennedy in 1960 and 66 percent for Reagan in 1984. He concluded that Reagan Democrats no longer saw Democrats as champions of their middle-class aspirations, but instead saw the party as working primarily for the benefit of others, especially African Americans and the very poor.

Under Obama's reckless spending for his cronies,we are headed for a drastic US$ currency devaluation which will make the price of bread exhorbitant like the USSR.

Obamacare is a joke because your "working employed neighbor" who finances your insurance will dwindle and the rich like Obama and his cronies get waivers.

He's an Islamist Trojan Horse. WAKE UP! AMERICA IS GOING DOWN.
