my sarcastic humor must have given me away. |

No, your honesty, Steve would never admit to the truth when a lie will do just as well. One of the Micron leadership qualities. |

Wooo hoo < $5 today...way to go (good old) boys

you beat me to it! Teradyne (TER, a semiconductor test company) also lost a limb today: it's down $1.40. With most manufacturing going abroad, test will go with it so TER is a goner. |

If you have any friends or family still working at Micron in the US, tell them to GET OUT. Even as Wall Street goes up, Micron continues to fall, stockholders are going to demand more cuts be made, with the theory that US labor is too expensive. All new plants will be made in China or Singapore or Vietnam. US operations will become surplus.
The only bright spot is the stockholders may wake up and fire Appleton and the Board before then. If you are a high-tech worker in Boise or Lehi, GET OUT. Go to California or Seattle (Portland is liable to be inundated with ex-Hynix employees soon). Boise is going to crash and burn soon. |
Boise is in bad shape and only looking to get worse. From what I have been told many people are turning the keys in for their houses and just leaving. Sad.

For the second week in a row, wafer starts in the 200mm fab are 3K below weekly ships. No explanation given. Not common knowledge but it is documented. Most engineers know it is happening, but they do not know why.
Just a purge, or a count down to a shut down? |

I don't know if you saw this one:
"Hynix set to close its Oregon plant, cutting 1,100 jobs" if you think the american worker isn't expensive, ask yourself why it takes an SUV, a McMansion,$12,000 a year in health care and a deficit doubling government to make chips. I watched this video: and the truth is getting out that the difference between our government in 1933 and our government today is that-- today, our government is up to its chin in debt! |

Samsung is in town this week to recruit hi-tech positions, mostly in San Jose and Dallas. So there's another 100 or so well-paid people who will be bailing out of Boise for greener pastures.
Any politician who still voices the concept that Boise is a high-tech incubator should go out to the henhouse and check the roost - the chicks are flying the coop because greedy and ignorant MBAs have poisoned the feed. Appleton is just biding his time until he can get the head tennis coaching job at Boise State and ruin that, too. |

micron stock is down to $4.64! Ouch!
And it closed today at 4.58...down 39 cents from Friday! And a year ago I was let go to HELP the shareholders. What a crock!
Yeah, I had a good laugh on the anniversary of my farewell kick out the door. Micron is doing worse than ever. If people think Micron is going to stick around Boise they are seriously delusional.

Hey! Hi-tech may be dying the in Treasure Valley, but at least the cheese factory in Nampa is hiring up to 50 new people!

I left Micron a few years ago becuase I thought, at the time, the company was struggling. I still have plenty of friends that still work there and I feel for them. I wish Micron could turn things around but the only way this will probably happen is if they are bought out.

I cant wait to get out of this dump, I'd be gone already if I had somewhere else to go. Managment (which sadly Im a part of) has no respect for its people. Ive told several people (against orders of course) that their jobs are going to be ended. I actually feel good knowing that they were able to go out and find new jobs before micron could can them without warning (as was planned). The only chance this company has is to fire the upper management (area managers and up). Otherwise their screwed, once the market and economy turn up and other companies start hiring, MTV is gonna be a ghost town. All of us that came in on relocation contracts will be on the first bus out.

MicronSux, I hear ya... I was one of those fired for bogus reasons, actually, a year and three days ago... I'm sure we probably know each other...
