As far back as 1986 the Afro-Am company commander of D Company was acting Battalion Commander when needed. MMA is expensive and sadly, the percent of out black families who can afford it is quite small. MMA is proud of have Cadets from 10 different countries. I don't know how you live with yourself in ALL the accusations about a premier Academy....and IF all these things happen, how come YOU are the advocate, after 100+ years of MMA existence?

Although it is true that there were a limited number of black students that attended MMA, they were treated no differently then any other member of the corp. In fact, several of us went out of our way to scour out any bigots...because we wanted a better school for everyone. The only tension that I every saw, was between native born Americans and those from other countries. And you can chalk that up to cultural differences and opinions. All in all it was a GREAT experience and a LOT better then attending a public school. And really in the case of MMA, the cadets made the school...the faculty were just there to guide us. -Stone, T. I went to mma and i can you first hand the place SUCKS!!!!! It did nothing more for me than make me hate people !!! Its oppresive and cruell Using students w/brainwashing against their fellow student . I have nothing but bad memories about the place. Expensive as hell and they would keep the heat down in the winter freezing us out forcing us to turn the heat on other ways. No Air conditioning in the missouri oppresive heat .we did however smoke herb every night under the band room in the gun storage and we would drink lots of stollen alchohol from the local store did lsd and xtc and had as good of a time as we could . Attention fellow students I never went to church or vespers I would just simply skip vespers(your victims if you go) and for church wait until they call your name then just walk off . nobody will every know .

By the way on the racism thing i dont think i ever went to school with a black person . no hiller was his name and there was one. The real racism was the Whites againsts the Mexicans and it will never end at MMa . The education is laughable by the way . Taught by a bunch of igo maniacs who couldnt pass their own tests without the teachers additions . I cant say enough bad stuff about MMA . The only thing i got out of it is a friend who i still do drugs with cause im a loser and thats what you will be if you go to mma

I was a six-year student at MMA from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s. It is true that black students made up a very small percentage of the overall student body, but as posted earlier, this was due largely to the expensive nature of a boarding school. If I recall correctly, the administration actively recruited black students and admitted its first black cadet in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The school addressed head-on the civil rights era in the centennial book "Soldiers, Scholars, Gentlemen", so MMA is not hiding its past.
The legal-institutional framework of the United States with regards to racism is well developed, and with black citizens very much aware of their rights under the law, how could any entity like MMA get away with institutional racism without facing very public legal action? If you think about it rationally, the case being made by the OP in this thread is simply preposterous.
MMA had a multi-cultural student body during the years I attended. I can recall there being students from Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Taiwan, South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Nicarauga. While there could be friction due to cultural and language issues among teenage boys, it provided us with excellent learning opportunities.

I now call BS to the recollections by "brett molaughlin". There were four types of guns at MMA:(1) the 1903 Springfield Rifles that were used during military reviews and parades; (2) the 1903 Springfield Rifles that were used by the Fusileers drill team and the Brigadiers drill team for practice and competition; (3) the .22 caliber small-bore target rifles used by the varsity and JV for the competitive rifle team and (4) the .22 caliber small-bore target rifles used by the JROTC target shooting program. In the case of both sets of 1903 Springfields, the firing pins had been removed so that the guns could not be shot even if a student were able to find ammunition to fit the rifle.
All of these guns were kept locked in the basement of the MMA Field House. In the case of the .22 rifles for target shooting, these were kept locked in safes in the locked rifle range. Ammunition was kept in a different locked safe in the locked rifle range. The Fusileer and Brigadier rifles were kept locked in the Fusileer room. The review and parade rifles were kept locked as well, and had to be checked out and checked in after each use.
All of this to say that there were no guns under the band room. In fact, the band room was in a separate building at least 50 yards away from the Field House.
As for "brett's" claims about drug use -- I would imagine that it would be very difficult for a student tripping on LSD or raving on ecstacy to be able to complete his trip without his behavior giving him away. If my college experience is any guide, it takes several hours to come off such a buzz; hours that would have included multiple interactions with other students and faculty. The erratic behavior that accompanies taking Ex or LSD would make for a quick trip to the infirmary and a rapid expulsion from the school.
As for students being able to rob liquor stores repeatedly without being caught, I have to wonder how the store didn't discover the thefts and install better security. What did you do with the empties, "brett"?
Yes, it was hot in early September and late May and there was not air conditioning in the older barracks. Yes, it was cold in winter and the old radiators sometimes didn't keep us as warm as we would have liked.
As for the quality of the education and educators, I think I'll let "brett's" spelling and grammar errors speak for themselves -- a student who graduated from MMA wouldn't make such mistakes.

Listen here know it all . There was a room under the band room . Full of guns and pot smoke. as for stealling and being under the influence . remember our very little free time on saturday afternoon? well ours were filled with drugs and no teacher at that school was smart enough to figure it out . Empties????? what the fuck you ever heard of the trash can???? or going back into town to ditch the bottles . we would walk in with our trenchcoats on and each walk out with a bottle . MMA is Racist and a Oppressive place . I wouldnt wish on my worst enemies. As for spelling and grammar thats what youll get at MMA .... A terrible education .. MOre interested in Sending Their Students to Iraq to Get Killed in the Armed Forces for our Bull Shit Liar of a President. For Shame MMA for Shame

Ahhh, yes: Saturday afternoon. That glorious 12:30-ish to 5:30-ish window in which a student could drop some acid, take ecstacy, smoke some dope, or binge drink -- and magically sober up in time for evening mess formation, evening mess, and any evening activities -- that, OR tripping, raving, stoned, or drunk students would make it through the evening without rousing the suspictions of their fellow cadets, cadet officers, the students pulling OD duty, the faculty on duty, or the faculty residents in the barracks. Right, dude.
As for putting your empties in the trash, didn't you worry that the janitor, the maintenance staff, some faculty or some cadets would find the bottles and rat out your basement party room? As for going back to town drunk, stoned, tripping, etc., to drop off the empties, it's amazing that your actions never raised suspictions, as even in the dark ages when I attended, the few students who toked up or drank with any recklessness were busted rather quickly.
So, "Your mama" or "your mama": where was the band room located? Which buildings were closest to it? How did you get into a basement that was regularly locked over the weekend? What types of guns were down there?
Finally, give us some specific examples of racism by the faculty or administration. Give us names or numbers of alumni in Iraq. Tell us when you were a student, what company you were in, and any other confirming information that might lend a shred of credibility to your accusations.

there is no racism at this academy, the people who post bad comments on this forum are the previous cadets of the academy who did not try hard and as such were treated poorly by their peers, it is not MMAs fault it is the individual cadets fault.
