I too attende LVC and had high interest rate loans but was able to convert all but one of them after some resistance from the lender.
Their idea of job assistance is pathetic. All they seem to do is get local buissness that are retail, customer service, or food industry related for its graduates. I'm ready, willing and able to join in class action suit ober the schools broken promises that they will help their graduates find a job in the field they were trained for. I could'nt even get entry level types of jobs in the Visual communications industry that I trained for.

I am currently enrolled into LVC. I found their programs to meet my needs, but now that I read your artivle I fear that my program is just a hoax. I wondered why only one college would accept college credit from this institue and not this one. I fear maybe I better get out now, before my loans are incresed beyond my control.

This school formerly known as Allentown Business School has had a very bad reputation since back in
the 70's or 80's. Most people who were aware of this steered clear and avoided it like the plague.
Most of the people who did go there never got a job through them like they promised everbody.

Our daughter is scheduled to start at LV in July. Over the past week we have been reading many negative comments about this school. We have called the school and expressed our concerns. they assured us that all of the negativity is bogus. We are so confused at this point we don't know where to turn. She is so very disappointed, my heart is broken for her. Aren't there any people out there that have had a good experience at this school?

Please parents and students, look at any of the Community Colleges in the area. Anything but this place. Save your money, and transfer your credits if you move to a 4-year school.

There's a reason this "college" advertises on local cable channels incessantly....

I only know of one girl that graduated from there. She got a low paying job in the office of a clothing factory.
That was some years ago. She now works in a hospital doing a completely different type of work.
I know of a number of others who quit the college after a few months.

CC is the way to go. Somebody I know went there for something health related. She was able to get a job but obviously could have saved a lot of money going to a CC.

Send her to the Cal Sates..your family will owe so much money. The schools if for profit. She can get the same training somewhere else. Brooks College just got closed down and they fired the entire admissiosn department. They are no longer accepting applications. Dont go the CEC schools.

If you do send her anywhere like a design school send her to FIDM!

Learned alot , but the one class the teacher played games on his handheld device, gave everyone a good grade even though some didn't do the work , but most importantly, I was told at the beginning about LVC 93.3% job placement, then at the last portfolio class 2003, the class was told by Andrea Kasper "Don't come to us with your diploma and say where is my job , it doesn't work that way, you have to look for a job yourself and you can't rely on us {LVC} to provide you with one, oh yeah, I've applied at over 35 jobs , Graphic Design to no avail..So beware

I am a former student of LVC. I would not recomend this school to anyone!!!
The job placement help is next to nothing, the payments on the student loans are high, and the credits are not transferable. I was planning on going back to school for nursing, and have already taken the medical courses, however I cannot find a school that will except my credits, so therefore I have to take my courses alll over again. Twenty thousand dollars later. I have been out of school for alittle over a year and still can not find full time employment. If any one can give me information on joining the lawsuit please contact me . It would greatly be appreciated

Hey , they told me at the beginning $20,000 is the price of a car , yeah , but at least I would have that car to drive today instead of loan payments with no job!

LVC MIGHT BE HIGH, BUT LET ME TELL YA'LL SOMETHING, THEY SURE KNOW HOW TO PICK TEACHERS. THE TEACHERS THERE ARE DEDICATED TO THEIR STUDENTS! AS FAR AS THEIR JOB PLACEMENT, NO SCHOOL REALLY GIVES YOU A JOB. THEY REFER YOU! I WAS A CRIMINAL JUSTICE STUDENT,I DID NOT FINISH MY DEGREE BECAUSE OF SOME PERSONAL PROBLEMS, BUT YOU BETTER BELIEVE I AM GOING BACK REAL SOON TO FINISH! I LEARNED A LOT THERE. HOPEFULLY, THEY GET APPROVED FOR THE BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMS, BECAUSE I WOULD NOT GOT TO ANY OTHER SCHOOL. I WOULD STILL STAY A LVC.

Both me and my husband went to school at ABS and we will end up paying over 100k at the end of our loans. They recruited us by offering living expense checks telling us we don't have to work while we go to school. Also, we were given private loans with 18% interest rates.

Yes, get out now and go to community college. It is less expensive, won't ruin your credit, more classes will transfer and the degree will be more respected by employers.

Good luck to you!

I agree that the teachers are ok...but the career services department is a joke. I call the office to talk to any in career services and no one is ever there, they promise to return my call but I never receive any return phone calls from the career services department.
P.S. I am with anyone in a suit against the school for the lies and job assistant placement help.

The job placement numbers are misleading however no one should wait around and wait for their college placement office to find a job. I don't care which college or university you attend. Yes, use them as a resource, but don't expect a handout.

The biggest issues with LVC are the financial aid scams, the cost for what you get, and the reputation.

You could go to community college pay a fraction of the cost and be more marketable. Or you can go to a 4 year college for what they scam you on tuition and finance charges and be in an even better position.

For those of you who take this route because you want to avoid all the "filler" classes...you aren't kidding anyone. Employers can see right through that and they prefer someone who has gone through a real college program (including community college) and has a well rounded education.
