I attended UDS which is what is was called then awhile ago 1994 then they changed to standford brown , any way it was a total waste of money and I am ashamed that I was ripped off the way I was , I never ended up getting a job in that field because I was not able to take the state registry when I graduated from the school also you needed to have two year experience to take the registry and no one would hire me because I was registered so it was a very misleading school that I know owe thousands of dollars ,, I was totally disappointed with the whole experience

I attended the Medical Coding and Billing program at Sanford Brown College in Collinsville. It appears only "bashers" are posting. Well, I did my homework on the school and even was given proof of % of graduates working in their field which is higher than the local community colleges (which by the way, couldn't show any statistics). Sanford Brown IS accredited by ACICS. If you don't know what that is....maybe you should use the wasted time looking it up to see what it is instead of "bashing" the school. Maybe do something constructive like contact the Placement Office and ask for assistance. If you didn't do very well in school....maybe you should ask about the "free" refresher courses they offer. I got good grades, attended classes and took my education very seriously and it paid off. Everything I have read here is just excuses and placing blame somewhere else so that you don't feel accountable for the fact you don't have a job. It irratates me when my school is bashed by the news media and fellow students....it takes away from the quality education I received and makes me have to defend what shouldn't have to be defended. For each one of you who have taked the time to "bash", there are many more with success stories...you just don't see them here because they are leading a productive life and giving back to society. You all need to get a life and go out and earn a honest living instead of jumping on a bandwagon to see if you can get something for nothing, ie lawsuit. Shame on you all....what are you teaching your children?

Prior CEC students,
We have a law group here in Tampa, Florida and a news investigation team.
We need your stories for the investigation team for their investigation and if it carries enough merit then the law group will include you in our class action on a contengency which includes no fees.
Visit my CEC advocate groups to get the information. This site is scadalous with CEC representatives trying to save face for CEC and I would like to stay far away from them.
Please contact me through the groups and we can go from there. CEC is on their last straw with the Federal Government and The Educational Department and I would love to assist in their collapse.
We also have the CBS 60 Minute investigation into CEC schools.

I read your comment and I'm happy someone feels that way. I just registered with classes at Sanford Brown College with the major of Medical Billing and Coding. My relatives didn't think I made the right decision because of these bad stories that I'm just finding out about the school. I now ask myself.."what have I gotten myself into?" but then I went to SWIC before hand and I'm sure they have bad stories too. Tell me about your success, please. Maybe it can help me out.

You sound like you are one of the only people with common sense. I am sure you will do well. There are a couple pieces of advice I can give you: 1) Don't miss class. You are paying for it, so get all you can get from each instructor. 2) If you ever do not totally understand something, ask for help immediately if not sooner. Everyone is so helpful. There are no classes on Friday but the instructors are there and will help you and there are "Peer Advisors" to tutor as well. There were a couple study groups in my class and we would get together and study. I think that helped me too. You will love one of the first classes you have. It is "Investment on Success". They teach positive thinking, time managemnt, how to overcome obsticles, study skills and time management. Since I had been out of school for awhile, that class was invaluable to me. One of the last classes you take "Professional Developement" is key too. They teach how to create a resume, how to interview and how to successfully do a job search. Maybe those people who have been "bashing" the school didn't do well in that class. Anyway, I just want to wish you luck and get all you can from your classes. Stay close with the Career Services....they will help you. I wonder how many of those "bashers" really are graduates. If they are, they need to call Kim in Career Services - she will help them.

Kudos to the Edwardsville grad. Obviously this person is a success because he/she has applied themselves. What I've learned in Collinsville is that attitude is everything. You want to be negative? Go ahead but that's the kind of life you'll have. Want to be positive and successful? Sanford Brown has given me what it takes to succeed. I think that some of these people must have slept through Investment class. I guess some people just want success handed to them on a platter. Not me - I went after it and I've gotten it. I now have a decent career and the money to be able to take vacations with my family. I never felt like I was lied to or taken advantage of. I also never, ever felt like a number but truly like my teachers cared about me.

I attended Graceland University for 3 years, paid $40,000, lost wages d/t 1000 clinical nurse practitioner hours, got to the last class, got a "C" on one paper I wrote. A new policy passed in 10/98. I was not granted my master's and FNP degree. I enrolled in 5/97 & had no idea that if you get two "C" grades, you are out for good. This happened in 9/00. I am 53 years old & my loans are killing me. I complained to the CCNE & Missouri Commission on Human Rights who were thrown out d/t to college being Mormon. Is there anyone else out there damaged by an internet school?

I have reason to "bash" Sanford-Brown in Milwaukee, but there actions lead to that conclusion. I hire CNA's for my company and a couple of close to me attended Sanford-Brown. I went to the school and worked with there spotlight on the employer program. Businesses would come in and take aplications and talk to students about employement. Well I did not find a hireable candidate. I went into the lab to let students practice blood drawing on me, I could not tell the instructor from the students. The school has no professional standards. There goal is to keep around long enough to get your money, that's it. I know 1 example of a student being retailiated against for making a complaint, and the school took no action. Those who got your diploma and did well good for you, it show a person can overcome. What Sanford-Brown does and is doing is wrong. This school will not be around for long, it is my mission. Anyone needing details for any type case please feel free to contact me at [email protected] The medical profession will not be safe till the Sanford-Browns are gone.

SBC Collinville Grad:

You're an idiot!!! Bashers?!?!? look online in google search and you can find negatives publicy all over about Sanford-Brown. Who complains about a good education, nobody. Research a resepected institution and tell me what you find (Bagel!!!)

You work for CEC or Sanford-Brown and are on here trying to save them face. Get a life! The statistics about this school and many other CEC schools load the web, just search.

Explain this: http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2006/05/18...

Yeah, respected my ass!!!

ACICS accrediting council is a degree mill council. Half those schools are being sued and investigated and none, and I repeat NONE have any credibility in the career or educational world.

If anybody should research it should be you. Keep supporting your employer buddy. CEC is going down fast so you keep standing behind the, pal!

I graduated in November 2006 from Sanford Brown Institute from cardiac ultrasound program. A year later I still can't find a job because what they fail to tell you when you start the damn program is that they are NOT ACCREDITED by CAAHAP and since they are not accredited you could not sit for your ARDMS testing when you finish. What happens is that nobody wants a tech that is not registered or at least registry eligible so you dont get a job. I hate Sanford Brown with all my soul because I have so much debt now because of this program. I cant pay the loans because I dont have the job of my "dreams" which they led me to believe that I would of find immediately after I finished with a high paying salary. I wish I could do something about it. I've been very depressed with all this situation because I really believed that I was on track and my future would change for me and my family. If anyone could give me some information of how I could file a lawsuit against these people please write me at [email protected] Please HELP

Could you please contact me @ [email protected]? I'll like to discuss more of your success story---CONGRATS. I just recently enrolled @ SB....I also did my thorough research before enrolling. I too think like you: "basically, you're only going to get out what you put in". Dedication, persistance and a positive outlook...the more you give, the more your're going to get in return...that's in ANY area of your life. Hope to hear from you soon. Best of luck to you and your future!!

I was considering joining Sanford Brown just now. I was sceduled for an appt. on Sat. I blew off 2 others because something didn't feel right about them. My bf said he'd heard horror stories about that place. I live right outside Philadelphia. So i would be attending the one in Tevose, Pa (like 10 mins from my house in Langhorne). I have decided not to go now. BUT I just quit my job!!!! I am 22, and I need to find a decent school for Diagnostic Sonography or Xray technition. Please Please PLEASE, if you know of any schools around Philadelphia that I should look into Please contact me via email at: [email protected]
Plz I am desperatly in need of going back to school. I need to go somewhere where they do not really look at past grades, and is affordable. I dont really want to go back to bucks county comm. college. Plz help!!!!!!! thankyou!!
