For most, I would say idle zombie. Boost that zombie with a vaccination and some red bull and you have a cured, effective direct mail piece. A product was released to the public today called postcard+. This product was a little bit of a secret for the past decade where only a few magazines used it to boost their subscription rates. Visit http://www.postcardplus.net for more information. If you don't like the info, at least the dog pictures will keep you entertained.
Enjoy!

I think it's very alive - if done correctly. Companies need to realize you can have a great, effective direct mail pieces if they have a professional design the art work. My company has used http://directmailtx.com for several direct mailers and the return is much higher because of the awesome graphics.

I think direct mail can be a good way to sell RFID tags http://www.fricknet.com/Products/SmartMark_RF... , but I am still looking for the right list. If anyone has any ideas on where to purchase a good list for the following markets, that would be much appreciated:

Utility markers http://www.fricknet.com/Products/Utility_Mark... -- to construction and utility companies.

RFID tag http://www.fricknet.com/Products/SmartMark_RF... -- to department of defense, defense contractors, and firearm manufacturers

Custom signs http://www.fricknet.com -- to oil and gas pipeline companies.

Thank you so much.

Yes, postcards are the most cost-effective method in direct mail. However they can produce just as good a result, as long as the offer is compelling enough and the reader is called to action.

Direct mail is DEFINITELY alive! I just worked with this company from Baltimore, MD and they offer some of the most cool and innovative techniques for direct mail, newsletters, sales letters, and more. I received so much positive feedback from the people I sent things to. I bought their software package and I could personalize and edit all my own direct mail with a click of the mouse! I urge everyone to check this link out... it will definitely benefit you and your business!

Despite the huge increase in internet marketing strategies, direct mail still has an important part to play. It is much more measurable and targetable than most internet marketing campaigns and not much more expensive.

Changing the media from expensive card, to slightly less expensive card with a finish saves money and doesn’t look any cheaper.

Make the direct mail simple and easy to read. It doesn’t matter if the media is a letter, postcard, or a full on gift box, it has to inform the audience and call them to action.
