What a great thing for this dental office to do. I
have heard that some dental offices make people pay
up front for dental care. I have heard about some
poor unfortunate souls who died from tooth infections. More dentists should be doing this.

People taking care of people. No government agencies or programs involved. Let's all take up the challenge to help our brothers and sisters by the examples we set with our actions and our attitudes.

Dr. Adams is to be commended for this. I know there are many people in need of dental care who simply cannot afford it.

It would be like pulling teeth to get the other dentists to participate.

First, I commend the dentist and his staff. But it is a shame that the greatest country in the world cannot afford free dental care for the ones who need it.

I can actually take a vacation in Mexico and have a root canal plus a crown, or an implant done for what a dentist charges in the States for the same thing. That includes the airfare. My dentist in Mexico has just as good or better equipment than my dentist here in Asheville. It is nice that this dentist is doing this for the unfortunate. Thanks Doc.

You can get limited dental care at the health dept., but you have to be there very early in the morning and they only take the first 6 or 7.

It is ridiculous all the wasteful spending in the country, yet people can be denied access to dental care. I bet congress has excellent dental benefits.

Go buy blue cross and blue shields dental plan it is only $37 a month. Quit taking the socialized medicine mentality. No Obama is not going to pay your mortgage or fill your gas tank.

Tell me how someone who lost their jobs can pay 37 dollars a month plus the co-pay which you forgot to mention.

This is great! At the BCHC you must have Medicaid, that is if they even see adults, and @ the ABCCM, they will not see you if you have MEDICARE (which covers NO dental related costs. Yet people with no insurance at all can be seen @ ABCCM. This dentist should be commended for the gift he is giving to so many people in desperate need. Thank You!

Many people who now are unemployed did not save for a 'rainy day' and did not train for an alternate career.

The best things we can teach our children are to learn how to do several different jobs well, be prepared for the need to change jobs, to save money for a couple of months' worth of expenses, and to keep their teeh in good repair.

The Blue Ridge Dental Clinic, located in Cashiers, offers free dental care to the needy. They're listed in the phone book, and anyone who is unable to pay for dental care should call the clinic and set up an appointment. The clinic is an outreach effort of several area churches, and was started by Good Shepard Episcopal Church in Cashiers. I also congratulate Dr. Adams and his staff in stepping out to help those who would otherwise be unable to afford care. If more professional persons would do this on an occasional basis, our world would be a much better, happier place.

actually, there is a Medicaid program that provides dental care for kids up to age 21. The country doesn't owe people dental care any more than it owes them homes, cars, well-paying jobs, etc.

The dentist is doing a good deed; he's also going to reap some publicity from it and perhaps gain additional business. I prefer to believe he is acting out of altruism.

You make some good points, but it's not always so simple. yes, I'm trying to teach my son about taking care of his teeth. And yes people should try to save for a rainy day, but as expensive as everything is, that isn't always possible, especially with low paying jobs. I am more fortunate than some.

Wow! How cool is this!!My husband and I have spent thousands on dentist bills in the past year...sure would have rather improved our house or paid off some bills.
Anyway, I think if more Doctors and Dentists did this sort of thing the world would be a much better place.
Oh, and the guy who says BCBS is only $37 a month must be high. That fee is in addition to your health care monthly premium. You cannot buy just dental.BCBS premium for us would be about $600 a month. Yikes!!! Who can afford that?!
This Dentist should be an inspiration to us all.
