There are some interesting comments made by alleged former employees of 6 Day Dental! We were not aware that they had specific "weekly quotas" to meet as to how many of a specific procedure/speciality had to be completed by each of the different specialists within that practice. I can see how that could easily become an ethical issue...keeping all of the main types of dental specialties under one roof. The more specialized treatment that the patient needs, the more revenue that is going to be generated for one "supermart-style" dental office. "Sure you need braces, Mrs. Smith, I would like you to see our own in-house orthodontist for a consultation." Or how about, "Yes, you do need to have extensive gum surgery. Let's let Dr. Periospecialist here in our own office take care of you!" There's a "checks and balances" system that seems to be lacking in this type of mega-group practice.
Regarding the dentist who has been indicted...if you are wrongly prosecuted, then my heart goes out to you and your family, as even a non-guilty verdict will probably not erase the deterimental and devistating impact this negative publicity will bring to your career. And if you're guilty, then shame on you and off to jail you should go!
Of course former employees will have something bad to say, that is just how the world is. When you are employed somewhere, it is great...best thing ever. The minute you do not work there anymore, it sucks, and all the bad things come out...typical!

"Keeping all of the main types of Dental under one roof" is called convenience. Why refer patients out to mulitple doctors, make them miss work several times when you can help them in your office???

If you work in dentisty you should know you cannot diagnose treatment that is not needed... all pre-op / post-op xrays must be submitted to insurance companies and at any time the SBDE can request xrays for review.

I know Spencer and at first wondered why he wouldn't just give up his DNA to clear him. But I thought more about how close in proximity that EVERY dentist works on their patient. I pat patients on the arm or shoulder all the time for comfort or to say hello. We sit with our heads right over the patient sometime for extended length of times. A hair, a flake of skin, sweat, an endless number of evidence of the dentist DNA could get on the patient. With the way so many women wear low cut shirts and low riding pants, a hair or skin flake could unfortunately end up were it shouldn't.

Now with the possibility that this is a false accusation as some have stated, if she planned this as a way to make a financial gain she could have touched his arm, shock his hand and purposefully then placed her hand in her bra/panties to transfer DNA.

So would I give up my DNA so easily if I knew I were innocent. Not necessarily. I would have to follow my attorney's advice.

Let's not be quick to find him guilty and let's not slam the accuser, either until we have all the facts, which we don't.

As far as the people complaining about dentists doing excessive work. If you want to question your dentist's recommendations you should. I always recommend for anyone that doesn't feel convinced of my treatment plan to visit someone else. I will even give out other dentist's info for them to do that. The problem as I see it is that many people don't value dentistry and don't want to pay for a second or third opinion, or they are so tied to their insurance they insist on someone in network. Let's be honest there are good and not so good dentists. If you are so tied to your insurance company you may be limiting yourself from as many choices. We are in network with some and out of network with others. Sorry for getting off topic.

Our prayers go out to you and your family.

I never read anywhere that it was N2O2. Some dr.s are also certified in giving Oral sedatives (ex. triazalam). Please don't confuse the two. What one did he use, and remember they are different!

I mostly agree with your first point...we all know about "sour grapes"!
Dang...why WOULDN'T you go to a "Super-Mart" dentist?!! Get your stuff done all at the same place, definitely! Wouldn't it be convenient for people if say, someone wants Lasik eye surgery, wants liposuction, and needs a triple bypass---you could go to a "Wal-Mart" health facility and get them all done under one roof---an opthamologist, a plastic surgeon, AND a cardiologist! Think of the convenience!!! Why should you miss more work? Heck, get all the procedures done at the SAME TIME! Yeah, that's it! You could have one specialist working in each zone of your body simultaneously!(Oh, think of the time you could save...think of the CONVENIENCE!) And you could go through your conveient fast food drive-thru on your way home from your multi-surgeries! Who the heck needs the general and specialist dentists who work independently at their own private offices?!!
Your last point: "If you work in dentisty you should know you cannot diagnose treatment that is not needed... all pre-op / post-op xrays must be submitted to insurance companies and at any time the SBDE can request xrays for review."
Ahhh...so dentists takes a post-op x-ray after every procedure? You get a filling, or a "deep cleaning", or a sealant done and they take an x-ray after they finish and send it to the "dental insurance police" for review? Dang, what happens when the patient doesn't have dental insurance? I guess they're screwed 'cause there's no dental insurance company to review the work that the dentist performs on them...so sad.
Get real about dental insurance companies...they are not the authority on what treatment a dentist does, and shouldn't interfere with the patient/doctor relationship! I agree with another commentor: there are good and bad in any profession. Unfortunately, it's the FEW bad ones who taint the image of the profession.

Amen! I have reported a dentist to TSBDE and even had another one of his patients speak up with me that the same thing was done to her (NOT sexual assult). TSBDE called me and the other patient, visited the office and did over a year long investigation. The case... Closed. You look up his license online and his slate looks clean. It's not like BBB where you can check to see if any complaints were made and if they were resolved. You wouldn't believe the stories I hear from people in the dental field. Many people just don't want to deal with questioning so they just walk away from the practice and do nothing.

Oh, and even though I hope for the sake of his family and patients that he is innocent, I have seen one of my PASTORS resign from our church due to a sexual assult charge (He was very close friends with our family for over 10 years and his children hung out with me). And christian family man whose children i babysat cheat on his wife with 3 different women. Dont think just because you know someone they aren't capable of wrong doing. It's not like he's a saint- he was already practicing unethically.
AND Dont slam a girl who was brave enough to tell her story until we know for sure what actually happened. There are so many women who are sexually abused but are too afraid to speak up due to forums like this where people automatically assume she is lying, and all of the publicity that goes along with it. Although she may be lying, I think it's sad to see how many people on here discredit her statement.

This guy is a real loser. He was my dentist after my dentist retired. He did some dental work on me and referred me to another dentist to do special work on me. After that work was completed I was to go back to him. During this time Dr. Page just up and left Arlington. He never gave notice to me, my husband or a friend of ours(all patients of his) that he was moving. He abandoned me and left me with thousands of dollars for me to pay to finish the work. Not only did I have to get another dentist, Dr. Page never returned any of our calls. If he was such a good Dentist he should of notified all his patients that he was moving.
I know for a fact that he has had complaints sent to the State Board of Dental Examiners over a year ago and they have done nothing to take his license away from him. Maybe if they had, he would not of been able to do any sexual assaults. Where is our protection from the State Board of Dental Examiners????? If one, just one person has a complaint, they need to find out what is going on and not just file it away.
It seems to me that he has been a bad apple of dentistry far to long and it finally got him. I feel bad for the women he assaulted. I hope and pray that the State Board steps up to the plate and takes his license away for good.

I just checked the state dental board.
Spencer Page's license has finally been suspended!!! Check it yourself: http://www.tsbde.state.tx.us and click on License & Registration Verifications.
Considering how long complaints against him have been submitted, it is about time!

I was not surprised to hear about problems at Six Day Dental. Although the dentist is innocent until proven guilty regarding this recent story, I must say their business practices were very, very unethical.
My whole family went there to "try the new dental practice" as the practice was convenient and they seemed very nice. They were outright aggressive with insisting upon extensive dental work be done on my son and me. Our most recent check-up six months ago was clean and we had no cavities – zero. Six months later, we try Six Day Dental and all of a sudden we both had seven cavities -- each. Now my son is not the best with his toothbrush and it seemed possible that he could have some cavities. Over $600 later, he was all done. They insisted upon completing his work by the end of the year and were very concerned about his tooth problems. Then I went in and wouldn’t you know, they said I also had seven cavities. My last check up was 100% cavity free and now I had seven???? They also tried to strong-arm me into extensive dental work and another $600. They showed me the evidence, which was very, very hard to see. Their opinion of seven cavities seemed far-stretched. I decided that I didn’t need to give them any more money and went back to my original dentist, and wouldn’t you know it. NO CAVITIES!
Now, hopefully he will be proven innocent, because that would be horrible if it were true. But, but having first-hand experience over the unethical business practices there, I hope other patients wise up to their aggressive strategies and take their business elsewhere.
Sounds like my story. I went in there for a cleaning thinking I would be in and out. After 3 visits and $3000 I am still not done. I feel like such an idiot for letting them talk me into all this since I have never even had a cavity prior to switching to this office. I would strongly suggest that you stay away from this office. If I let them do everything they suggested it would have been closer to $5K but I finally came to my senses as they kept bringing out more they wanted me to do.

In response to MRAY- Just by chance, do all of you current and ex patients out there have 3 surface fillings? Has ANYONE who has had a filling done at 6 day ever just had a simple occlusal (chewing surface) filling or even one that covers 2 sides? I am a hygienist in another Texas city with a tight dental network. I just hear things. BUT is this true? From what I HEAR,(and of course I haven't seen anything first hand) I would believe your current DR. when he says that the work they did or needed to do was indeed excessive! I hear they really push same day treatment. instead, i would take my xrays to another dr. to get a 2nd opinion 1st and then if the treatment plans from both doctors agree, go back to 6 day to get the work done!
They said I needed over 10 surface fillings at about $300 per. I had never heard of this prior to going here. Are you saying this is a complete sham, I didn't have any deep fillings, just things that showed up on the surface with their digital pictures.

hopefully my last post didn't show i pushed something and bam* my post was gone. Anyway, i was trying to change my feedback be politically correct which you have to be careful about on these things...

In a nut shell--- from what I have heard about 6-day, yes, it is a very good possibility that it is "a complete sham." A lot goes into a diagnosis for a filling- does an instrument "stick" to the tooth when poked on, even if not, what is the density of the area, etc. A simple photo of the tooth can not tell these things to an insurance company. However, an x-ray (not photo) may in some cases be able to to tell if a filling covering 3 surfaces of the tooth was actually needed.(especially if there is no decay detectable on an xray and the photo shows only a small stained area) Dentists are smart though and if they pull off this scam all day long you know they've thought of a good story to tell to cover their butts, if they are ever questioned on the matter. All I can tell you is get your x rays out of 6-day and take them to another doctor. there are so many great dentists out there who value their dental license and dont want to lose it (and on top of that want to be able to sleep at night). If you are afraid to go to another doctor, ask people in the community who they go to and their thoughts and read reviews. I also know 6-day can't keep a hygienist worth a lick (there are a couple who are sticking around that I know of- but all of the rest come and go)---- employee retention is often an indication of an office being run well. I heard of a hygienist who left 6 day because she was tired of seeing stains being diagnosed as cavities over and over and wanted to feel good about the place she worked at. I wish I knew her to confirm this, but even if I did know her I wouldn't be able to say so on this forum!

This man is an abusing predator with no ethical foundation, taking no responsibility for his own actions.
From personal experience I know he has broken Texas regulations regarding moving his practice such that he engaged in patient abandonment while at least one patient was in the middle of a procedure. Even though he was supposed to give patients at least 30 days prior notice he had the audacity to finally contact me he moved his practice nearly a month after the practice was moved, the day after the Texas Dental Board sent a letter to that effect. The inane thing was that I had been in his office two days before he left the county and he had provided no notice even then. He blamed the lack of notification on other staff members at the new site,“the girls in the office,” even though he had provided them with inappropriate contact information. When I asked for my dental records to be returned to my current dentist he sent incomplete information and unusable x-ray copies and blamed the poor information on the reproduction equipment. He held my family’s dental records in another county, refusing to provide the information the dentist who was actually responsible for the records. He blamed this lack of care for patients on the failure of the dental practice which he had attempted to assume and then drove patients off.
I thought he was just an incompetent business person but now, with this information coming out, I am mortified my adolescent daughter was his patient. Thank goodness no one in my family needed a lot of anesthesia when he was in solo practice in my town. No wonder this sociopath say “There's no truth to anything." He has no concept of truth or of the consequences of his actions on others. If he did this assault in Denton County but has also worked in Wichita, Tarrant and Dallas Counties, we can only guess who else has been violated, either as a person or as a patient. The Dental Board should have restricted his license years ago, before he had the opportunity to continue. Bless the people who came forward to the police so far. This man has to be removed from being responsible for others.

Just so you all know, I am completely open-minded about this case. I just read that article though. And one thing strikes me as weird...
If Dr. Page had a dental assistant, then why was he taking xrays on her ? How often does the dentist take the xrays? Rarely if ever does the dentist do that. Also, male DNA was found on her. But who knows- she could of had a boyfriend who left his DNA there before she went to the dentist...

Dr. Page is not guilty! How dare anyone say anything about him...There is ALWAYS an assistant in the room. I happen to be an assistant so I should know! What's funny is...if I were getting work done and someone "sexually assaulted" me, I would not finish the procedure. The lady finished her work and then came back with the police! I would of said something as it was happening! And mind you, she was on drugs....that has alot to do with how you think. Shame on everyone who believes this nonsense. And to the lady who is a pathetic lier, I hope one day someone accuses you of something and you get locked up for it! This man is innocent and you have ruined his life!
