I think this guy pulled a fast one on the Lake County DA. They are falling for some major BS here and need to give this a better look. Maybe they could borrow a more experienced prosecutor from another county and have that person come in and look over the file? Anything would help because there is a lot of stuff that sounds wrong here. Even if this woman had her problems, nobody deserves what happened to her. The DA should not be judge and jury just based on the woman and her problems. A victim is still a victim no matter what issues they have.

I did read it and on two sites it said his home (she had moved out). It also said "Dr. Johnson filed domestic violence prevention against her on Monday, April 28. He then filed for divorce last Wednesday. Prior to that Dr. Johnson filed for separation from Margaret Johnson in 2004."

So this has been ongoing since 2004...she came to the house with a picax. From what I read she was in the wrong

But I will only comment on what Linda says, not on the case. She says "What did he do to provoke her anger?" I would like you to think for a moment, Linda, and decide what you would feel if someone came to the defense of a man who was abusing his wife, and said "what did she do to provoke his anger?"...This is a classic rationalization of abuse, as even the victims of abuse think this way ("what did I do to provoke his/her anger, it is all my fault, I must try harder, etc...")
40% of all cases of abuse in the US are committed by women against men, and there is no more validity in attempting to justify this abuse as there would be trying to justify abuse by men against women.

Good points there, Raphael. Percentages are questionable in these cases, as neither partner is completely innocent. I would venture to guess that mutual battery existed, as the marriage did endure almost two decades. In other words, I believe he is just as guilty as she is, and probably more so now because she was almost mortally wounded by him. The piece of evidence we don't have as armchair quarterbacks, is how did the pick ax get to the door? Did she transport it to the home or was is it already "propped" near the door? If it was propped, then an argument could easily be made that he lured her there. That is, why file a restraining order against someone and leave a pickax near an entrance? Complete speculation on my part. I hope that the LCSO is continuing an impartial investigation.
