You start to feel ill, your blood pressure rises and the anxiety sinks in as your toddler 's pediatrician says the dreaded words, "it is time to schedule your child a dentist appointment." We all know that dentists eventually acquire a bad rep and most everyone has some sort of fear associated with them, whether it be the terrifying drill or the ... (more)

Kids should see a dentist before they turn two. It is a catch 22 why dentists have a bad name: take bad care of your teeth and the dentist will see you when you are in pain, but a dentist can't keep you from being in pain because you won't come back to see them regularly. thankfully oral sedation is a great way to keep people from feeling pain at the dentist.

In some articles a read, it says that we should bring kids to the dentist when their first tooth shows up, is it really true?

This can be a nervous occasion but if doesn't have to be. A dental office that I frequent in Barrington has a great dental office which I've trusted with my kids for years.

I took both my children to a pediatric dentist before the age of two when a friend told me that they heard the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommended children have their first visit by the time they are one. I thought this was a little soon but wanted to do all I could for my children to set them up with strong healthy teeth and gums. I found a local pediatric dentist that does FREE dental exams for children under 18 months old (called a Wee-One Exam)
They were wonderful with both my kids making sure they were comfortable and built up their trust and confidence slowly. They even do familiarization appointments where they will adapt the visits to accommodate children who are anxious at the dentist by doing the
exam while you are holding your child or only do a few steps to make them more comfortable. If you can find an office like this in your area, highly recommend a pediatric dentist especially for a more nervous child, like mine were. They now love the dentist.

I just recently had to go to my child's first dentist appointment. It was a little nerve-racking, but turned out great. It was a short visit and the dentist said that her teeth were in good shape. Now, I guess it is my turn in the dentist's chair!

I used to visit my dentist after every 3 months. I have 4 year old son & 5 year old daughter. My kids really have a dental phobia but then also any how it is needed to take care of baby teeth for their good dental health. Even for us also regularly dental check up will make our hygiene better & reduces gum disease problem.
