America has streamlined building design into cookie-cutter, economy-driven, homogenized drab structures based of previous architectural plans. No new input required.

As a construction engineer, I don't understand why anyone would want to be an architect when the pay and hours are so poor when compared to engineers. Engineers actually construct the building, not the architects - better to get an engineering degree for the pay and the job opportunities.

Well dah, the economy is in the tank, businesses are backing out of earlier expansion deals left and right. And theres a study on this? No bodies building anything short of apartment units, of course architects aren't busy. How much taxpayer money was spent on this numnuts study.

G F - agreed! I think that most of these "studies" are a news reporters way of putting together insufficient information in order to "sell" a story.
