I have bought OfficeMax generic HP refills as well as mail-order refills and, at best, I have had less than a 50% success rate with refilled cartridges!(They just will not work!) I know the price of a new cartridge is a bit more expensive, but in the long run, you are better off with the original manufacturers' ink cartridge. And, no, I have no vested interest in any of these companies. This is solely based on years of experience.

I have had a few ink cartridges refilled at Walgreens, some worked but the ink ran out quickly and they refused to fill some because of cartridge problems.
I contacted Walgreens headquarters to find out why the store didn't completly fill cartridges(always showed empty on the screen) Headquarters did not give me an answer--
I now am buying new cartridges and will not go back to Walgreen and waste my money for partially filled cartridges.

I have had HP equipment for over 15 years and won't buy anything else--old computers are still working!

i don't quite understand the fuss over this, ink does not go old. the expiration dates on ink cartridges are usually more then a year, we know how little the manufactures put in these cartridges, ink is the single most expensive liquid on commercial markets more expensive them my cologne and i don't buy the cheap stuff. here is the bottom line, yes i have had my cartridge refilled at OMAX and yes occasionally it doesn't work but it is 50% cheaper then what i pay off the shelf and i wouldn't want them to suck out all the ink because thats 20-30 pages i may get out of it. i know it is not the same quality ink but if i need a photo printed i goto some place that uses dye-sublimation anyways, here is the point yes Omax and Walgreen's makes money by selling theses cartridges but it saves you money and it saves the environment from theses things getting buried, theres a small amount of lead in some of them. its a good thing and its only been around for a few years hopefully theses Kiosks and centers will get better as the technology does and the success rate increases. i had a bad refill at a OMAX store and guess what they replaced my money without complaint and i bought a new cartridge, they even let me recycle it and get 3$ off and gave me a coupon for 3$ off my next recycle, why because they make money off that refill and i save money and we are both happy

Can anyone explain to me what the numbers on an ink cartridge mean?

I am especially looking at an HP # 20 which from the factory one that came with my 1010 Fax machine, there is another number on it C6614n, ml 14.

All the cartridges I find are #20, but have the numbers C6614D or C6614DN and the ml are larger.

Does anyone know what all those numbers mean and woudl all #20 cartridges be compatible?

Also I have re-inked my cartridges for many years. A tiny bit of less quality for quantity is ok with me. dash

OK so, what if you take an empty "Softsoap" dispenser and put somebody else's cheaper liquid soap in it? Should the Colgate-Palmolive Company be suing someone?

My humble opinion... once you've paid for a NEW HP cartridge and used it up, what goes in it afterwards is none of their business!
