The best thing I EVER did was get out of IKON. Alco/IKON took a privately owned dealership from a successful well respected organization with a lot of skilled well trained and productive techs to a skeleton branch office with a hit and run mentality. While I was employed there I showed the VP of Service that the numbers of call, parts use and mean copies between failures were mutually exclusive (translate 'impossible') to achieve, got a blank stare and a 'That can't be!' response. Sorry Boss, math doesn't lie. It didn't change anything, targets stayed the same, the only guys making them were cheating on the copy counts and service calls. Showed him that too, same response. When we were merged (absorbed) by another office, I had the option to commute farther away or take a buyout. After 21 years, I bailed. Guys, if you want to live better, work union.

they will lie to you even worse than if you work for them... the other thing is if you dare bring anything up to management about there practices... you are an at will employee and they will cut you on the spot... so good luck getting anyone to help you out with your complaints especially in this economy

the pay is horrible and the morale of the employees is worse..I bailed out of there as soon as I could. the only people staying at rikon is people who have nowhere else to go and could not cut the mustard at other places..

If there are any ex Ikon service techs out there who knew about the recalls and problems with the CPP650 that was originally a Konica Minolta box, I would appreciate an honest person coming forward to tell the truth. There are many of us small business owners out here going bankrupt and being sued by Ikon for refusing to pay for a machine that never worked properly. They don't have the integrity to step up and tell the truth. Greed is an ugly soul.If you don't want to tell me your name but can point me in the right direction, do the right thing. Thanking you in advance
I agree Ikon has stole us all down the road to helllll. Ricoh is bullshit and many have lost there jobs.

So happy to read these comments which are not surprising,Ikon of Atlanta/Delta Mailroom where i was a dedicated employee for 11 years. Ikons management,HR,IAMS,Supervisors who were in charge at this job site were so dam unprofessional, and worst of all not educated to say the least.i'm talking IAMS,Managers,Supervisors,HR they all in the same category dumb as hell. The mailroom was as easy as it get's but because they had to authority to take advantage of their titles and use it to intimidate the workers it was done.I loved the job but hated the people in charge they made everything really personal and caused so much animosity against those of us who tried to get our work done it was a sad place to be i would get knots in my stomach everyday just dreading having to be there. All they wanted was to be in your personal business and so jealous of you for choosing to keep it that way, such haters.I commend all those who were able to get out and move on because nobody deserves this type of treatment. We had a siad to be supervisor who couldn't even dam read or respond to emails sent to her from executives within Deltas Corporate offices that was so embarissing and to make matters worst she got fired two weeks before i left wonder why? obviously somebody got tired of her trying to take advantage of them and reported her to the higher ups,not her frien that got her this position. So good luck to all those who was able to get away fro those people they are wicked and evil.Be Blessed

And so I hear they are finally going to merge the Ikon sales teams and the Ricoh sales teams together in November. OMG what took them so long? I hear that action will result in sales layoffs in Nov. And I also hear that techs will not be immune from these layoffs. Obviously the techs are worried about their job.

In my area (SNE) three FSM who were able to retire did so. The guys who were on those teams were distributed to other teams. Some of them now have to drive 60 miles or more to their new offices for service meetings, parts, etc. They are not happy.

Do I miss that garbage? No way.

IKON is totally destroying the company. We have adopted all of the IKON policies and procedures (the one that weren't working for IKON). Now for the first time in the history of Ricoh, we are losing money. gee, I wonder why? If you buy a company that was going down the tubes, then let them run your company, why would you expect improvement. We had the best service in the industry. Now are guys aren't even allowed to carry the parts they need to fix the machines. They have to send them back once a month, and now mangement wonders why overnight shipping costs are so high. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Japan can't have any idea of the ignorance going on in the states or surely they would intervene.

If Ricoh is the one who screwed up, how come IKON was going under and had to put themselves up for sale to keep from going bankrupt?Ricoh had never posted a quarterly loss in the entire history of the company prior to adopting IKON's stupid policies? Now they have lost money for 3 consecutive quarters. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who the f ups are. Open your eyes.

I try not to be angry about what the Ikon people have done to Ricoh. It sure does feel good to see some of them get done to them what they have been doing to the Ricoh employees since they swizzled and cadanced themselves to the leadership of Ricoh. At least Ricoh legacy employees know how to run a profitable company.

I am so glad I got out of my job at Rikon. I was a tech for 26 years for Ricoh and then Ikon took over and it all went to hell!! I would have stayed and probably retired from Ricoh, it was a very good company to work for. People cared about their jobs and did their jobs, you didn't have someone breathing down your neck all day long wondering why your numbers suck. Looking over your shoulder wondering when and for what dumb reason you were going to get fired. Trust me I saw many get fired for really dumb reasons. Figured they were trying to thin the herd.
And as far as Mgmt goes everyone who mentioned them on this string of shame you are all correct. With a very few exceptions. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you. All they see are numbers, number, numbers... So sad!
Well I happened to have a nice job drop in my lap and I am happy in my new home. Sorry all you people still stuck there, I wish you all the best and keep looking, there are tons of better jobs out there, even in this economy. GL!

Hey I just wanted to thank you for your feedback. My situation and feelings are very similar with yours. With the exception of finding something better. It feels like its getting worse.

A friend of mine who was an Ikon FSM but retired before me and still keeps in touch with a few people over there told me in December that techs now have to call into a dispatch center at 8am and then again at 5pm to log out for the day and if they don't, they may not get paid for a 40 hour week.

There is no way you can always be in a customers office at 8am. And if you finish up at 4:20 you're certainly not going to hang around there until 5pm.

My prayers are with you guys, believe me.

Good luck to anyone still with RIKON! Just had lunch with a buddy who still, unfortunately, works there. 3 guys just got laid off/fired and more to come! Watch your asses and keep up the numbers! Numbers matter, customers don't.
