The fountain may be too big, or it could have been damaged and simply leaks due to that. You may have to replace the part or simply call their support line. These offset printing machines are pretty popular and retain their value pretty well so it's possible that the vendor sold you the unit second hand.

Luckily being one of the more popular offset printing machines, there are a few solutions. You should be able to replace the fountain by contacting the manufacturer, or you may simply have to replace the seals at the end of the roller.

I had the same problem and so did the company who owned the unit before me. Luckily they were able to help me and point me in the right direction for replacement parts, instructions etc. This is an amazing printer when working properly.

I am getting an ink buildup on the water fountain roller on the 9870 after about 4000 impressions, conventional dampening system. What is the best fountain mix?

I have an AB Dick 9810 and am having issues with toning. I have replaced form rollers and water form roller (I have a Crestline dampening system) and the issue persists. What seems to be happening is the rollers are "skipping" and when they hit the plate, a small toning area appears. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Crestline has one way clutch bearings in the drive gear. It probably needs replacing.

This sounds like a sensor problem or your plates may be getting a bit too inked up. Try cleaning them and checking your sensor heads. This usually solves these types of problems.

The clutch bearings were replaced and the whole head serviced when the form roller and oscillator were replace, both were replaced at the same time as the ink forms.

Where are these sensors located? I have never seen such a thing. I don't think the plates are getting too much ink as I can reduce or increase ink and the issue persists. Where are the sensor heads located?

he sensor is located near the roller I believe where the paper feeds in. I'm not sure if it's the same as the machines we use, but these sensors can cause an uneven roll. I wouldn't worry about it, it's probably just an ink matter. Try that first.

Just purchased a used ab dick 9870 and having a couple issues with it.

1. The safety switch light continually blinks red even after pushing guard reset button. Is there a bypass switch inside the power box that will disengage all the safety switch covers?

2. When plugged in and turned on, I am not getting any reading on the led panel.

Is it possible when the press is hooked up to the power box that the wiring could be improperly seated?

1. There is a safety button next to the power and vacuum switches that when pulled out will allow the machine to operate without guards on.

2. Is the machine able to run properly otherwise? If so, I would suspect that the led screen needs to be replaced.
