This offer from RRD has been on the table since August 11 2008.
All this time QW has been telling Lies to the people.
QUEBECOR WORLD SENIOR MANAGEMENT are all looking out for themselves. This deal will mean HUGE bonuses for them, they will become ultra rich, we will become UNEMPLOYED!
They have kept this deal secret so that there traitorous ways would not come to light.

Truth Matters, Read it again. It says they expressed interest on August 11, 2008 and they never received any response to their proposal. That was because QW was not intersted.

Now they have taken the offer the creditors. QW doesn't have any say in plan.

I hope QW or another company will make a better offer. It will not be good if RRD buys us.

I dont think that the government would let this deal go through. Donnelley would have virtualy no competition in the market place. And Im for sure that the publishers would hate it. The would no longer have "choice" as QW likes to remind us.

Sorry to bust your bubble, pressman, but Donnelley would still have plenty of competition, and it is very likely that judge could force QW to accept this offer, because it offers a better return for the creditors without the gamble of QW failing later. Or, the Creditors may force this deal, for the same reasons.

I'm torn with concern with which is worse? The unknown RRD management or the known QW management? I would hate to say it can't be worse.. but the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side. But I will settle for "less brown" at this point.

I tend to agree with you - President Obama had said during his campaign that he felt the anti-trust laws had not been properly enforced during the Bush years.

However, if the creditors and the Canadian and U.S. bankruptcy court judges aren't convinced that Quebecor World can become (and remain) solvent, it may become a moot point.

Look at the monopoly now apparently controlled by the U.S. government. WE THE PEOPLE now essentially run both Chrysler and General Motors!

Actually, WE THE PEOPLE don't run a Goddamned thing. Nope. WE THE PEOPLE simply PAY for it all.

QW is very interested. This has been in the works for a long time. If someone owed you $100 but could only offer you $20, wouldn't you be interested if someone else offered $75?

If this goes through, What will happen to the qw plants? RRD has not got the work load to fill us up. We might just have enough work to fill the up.

Remember back when Quebecor "merged" with World Color and what had taken place just a few months after? World Color plants closing, World Color MGMT gone?
I was hoping to just see some of the Lebanon Ohio work come our way here at RRD when they close July 7, 2009 but now it looks like even more work coming our way.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

To which "bastards" are you referring? We're ALL suffering quite sufficiently as it is, thank you. Vengeance may indeed be yours, but please don't direct it at us.

If you're angry with past and/or present upper management, well that's fine. So are we. But the people who post HERE are (for the most part) just average folks who are concerned about our livelihoods.

If you're really a Donnelley employée, you don't need to pour any additional salt into our wounds.

Hope this doesn't happen, but its the smart move for RRD- they can take all QW's accounts to help fill their open capacity, cherrypick from QW's equipment, keep only strategic locations and best people and absorb whatever cash is on the balance sheet, then sell off and play tax loss games with the rest.
