Everyone is screaming that it was the corporate assholes who ruined Northeast Graphics. Yes, the idiot PK did play a huge role in this and in the demise of many other plants. Take a closer look. The plants that closed over the past 7 years were always union plants. Why, because the union plants historically are the least productive, and the employees are the most difficult to deal with. Now, the restructuring group had to look at all the plants and each plants performance was considered. Several years ago a few "Mafia" wannabes at Northeast decided to slow the press speeds from an average of 1600 fpm to 800 fpm? They had a fat manager who went along with it. They threatened anyone who was against it. And they succeeded. Production in the plant reached early 1980's levels. Their plan was this: If we make this place so bad, QW will dump it and we will be bought out. These morons single handily ruined Northeast Graphics. This was a major factor in the decision to close NEG. Jojo, CC, RC, Marc M., D Mor, Tony I, G Nel, How can you scumbags look at yourselves in the mirror? It's all a big joke to you. You will just keep hanging out around your personal break room table. You clowns are just as much responsible for the closing of NEG as PK and corporate is. Sleep well tonight.
you could not run a press and a joke of a supervisor

As a former bindery for City and Northeast the company was doomed once they pushed Steve Bortner out. Quebecor only wanted the company for the inserts business as others have said Goliath took over and ruined a very successful well paying customer to a few good binderies many who are no longer in business, Remco, Corydon and a few others.

i work for a company that provided neg about 30% of their work. the equipment is so dated that these pressmen never stood a chance to produce high quality commercial work. while the rrd's and quad's of the world were constantly updating their equipment, queb stood pat with their dinosaur technology. i have nothing but good things to say about the csr's and sales people i worked with so it's a sad day to see them lose their jobs. i'm not familiar enough with the management to critique but for the last 10 years i've never heard an employee say anything positive about the powers that be in montreal.

Of course there is no intelligent response to what I wrote. The only ones responding are the individuals who are outlined in my post, the uneducated, followers who ruined a $100,000,000 pressroom. But don't blame them "corporate made them do it".

There is talk that Martin Printing is bidding on one of the eight unit presses and a combination folder from Northeast Graphics. Donnelley may be farming out some News America work to them. Stay tuned.

Sad.

I never understood why the former plant manager had such unwaivering loyalty toward that press manager. GP seemed like a decent person, but he had his favorites and perhaps that blinded his judgment.
NEG was the most clicky place I ever worked at, cant say I miss that. Still, I met some good people there and have some fond memories of working there. I still think PC got the shaft when they dumped him as plant manager Shame to think that some on the inside could have caused its fall.

I think everyone unemployed needs to stop blaming everyone and everything else for their problems and go get a job. Even if you have to temp for $7.50 an hour, it's more than nothing, right? Something better will come along. Stop blaming Walmart, illegal aliens, or the Democrats, or Republicans, or Al Quida, or Michael Jackson and go get a job.

Peter Chu got the shaft??? Peter Chu was the most ineffective, incompetent idiot ever given a managers position. He had no backbone, no knowledge of manufacturing, could not deal with internal plant issues. His only goal was to keep sales happy by burying his head in Brian's ass. If you think he got the shaft you must be one of the CSR's of whom he seemed to love, for reasons unknown. The CSR's were almost as dumb as the air head blonde in charge of accounting.

GP and PC where two of the worst and most arrogant num skulls outside binders ever worked with. In their minds NEG was never the problem it was always the binders fault. Gp answer to a problem was I will back charge the bindery and the problem is solved. Once SB was gone GP and PC became little tyrants.

Your right it is those guys that are responsible for the down fall of NEG.It has nothing to do with scal stock,14in books delivering out of a folder made to run 15in minimum,36pg,40,48pg 5 ribbon 4 glue heads 3 knife trim and it still makes money, shit send it to Dallas. Dumb and dumber who were not smart enough to grease up some state officials so we would not have to use canola oil to wash blankets or smaller crews 6 guys 3 guys whats the difference amigo? Que pasa, dont get me started on the spanish. And nothing to do with 11 toed 3 nippled premadonna prosac taking pressman freaks doing crosswords all day. And not to forget about the QW philosophy run till it break, than run some more because we dont have the parts. And speaking of parts how about the frog from Canada that showed, up stole 2 presses and went north. It was none of that stuff! It was those Mafia guys! Your right, you crazy Bastard.

Just so you know QW has at least one other plant in CT, all those folks need to find jobs before that plant closes. Believe me its coming, that company doesn't care about the little people as long as the money is flowing up to canada where they live.
